Re: Shout out for Simms!

My next pair of boots will be Simms just because of their customer service. Those aholes at Chota sure don’t take care of their customers like Simms does. . I should send in my G3s and have Simms replace the shoulder straps on my waders.

Re: Is the Site Slowing Down?

Judging by the pictures I think Mark needs to be reminded what a "hooter" is. He did turn 60 the other day so Old timers could have kicked in. Jon You guys are right, so this time I’ll post a photo of a real Hooter. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn235/one2use/species-Puls...

Re: Is the Site Slowing Down?

Sometimes I read a TR or other post and don’t have time to post a response at that time. Then I forget about it thinking I already did respond when I really didn’t. I guess that comes with getting old or something. Anyway I don’t always check out the forum as much as I have in the past. Maybe a few ...

Re: Annual FlyBuy Feb 8 in Long Beach

I’m bringing a Lamiglas 6’6” 5 pc 3 or 4 wt fiberglass rod and tube to donate for the Garage sale. It is brand new and has never been used. It would make a great pack-rod or small stream rod. There will be other items like this at the sale. Last year I scored a nice fly fishing rain coat for $10.

Joe Libeu, Big Horn River @ LBCC, 1/30

This Thursday 1/30 the Long Beach Casting Club will have Joe Libeu give a presentation on the Big Horn River. Might be a good time to learn about one of the better rivers in Montana, considering how the Eastern Sierras may end up being one of the highest deserts in the world if we don’t get any more...

Re: the locals...some history...

Somewhere I have a photo of my dad in the early 60s with his 650 Triumph, a 270 Winchester rifle with a mounted scabbard and a buck strapped down on the back of the bike. He shot the buck while hunting some place off hwy 39 in the San Gabriel Mountains. I think it was either the DFG or the Hwy Patro...

Re: Headlight upgrade on my truck?

I’m with fivefish on these lights, better than stock, but not much in the wow factor. Up-grade your bulbs if they are burnt out, but I would not replace them otherwise. If you want more light for offroad you need more wattage, throw a light bar on your truck and gets some real lights.

Re: Which knot do you use?

Double Surgeon......it is quick and easy, and I have had one yet to fail on me! As a side note, I used to ignore wind knots, until I lost a big bass with one! I am now a believer that the line strength is reduced by 50%! Now, as soon as I see one, I replace the tippet! Been there done that. We shou...

Re: Fly Fishing Film Tour - Feb 8th

It is really lame that this event is on the same day as the IFA film in Long Beach along with the 1014 FFF Southwest Council Flybuy. It looks like we will have to make a choice. I guess I’ll be going to the IFA film because I’m already in Long Beach for the FFF SWC Flybuy at the Long Beach Ca...

Re: Which knot do you use?

I use the slim beauty knot when I’m connecting different diameter size leader materials. It is much stronger than either a surgeons knot or blood knot or any other knot I have tried, and is nice and small and will slide through the guides. You can connect 6x material to .023 leader material and get ...

Test seem to support a switch to a surgeon's knot if you want a stronger connection.
