Re: Ocean kayak fishing

I got my first ocean kayak in 1992 and can't count the number of times I ate it paddling in and out. No matter how good you are, you learn to tie EVERYTHING to the kayak, except yourself. We used to launch a skiff in Malibu, and flipped that a few times too. Not so fun, but always entertaining :)

Re: Wading Staffs

If you want serious support, I highly recommend the Folstaff wading staff. I put a rubber tip on the end of mine, and found the grip was excellent, and it stopped the clanking noise that spooked fish as I move around the river.

Re: Flybox Labels

I switched back to wooden and sealed plastic boxes that float, and it's paid off. Last time I took a swim on the Henry's Fork, a box got away, and a friend chased it down the river, and retrieved it for me. The lesson I learned from that was ALWAYS make sure my vest pockets were closed. I have label...

Re: This weekend's snowfall

That is good news! It appears moisture is lining up coming into California. Let it snow, and rain :)

Re: Yellowstone and Silver Creek Preserve

The Henry's Fork should be in full swing by June, with lots of hatches. The Park waters may be high, but still fishable. It all depends on how the runoff plays out. Think PMD's, Caddis, and Stoneflies. I hope to up that way on the Fork and the MO about that same time frame :)

Re: Laid off

Sorry to heat that, Wade. Hopefully something will pop up quickly for you. I can relate, though. I am currently working back east for a month, because it's the best thing I could find. 81 at my house in Camarillo today, and 22 here, with howling winds. Good luck!

Re: Is the Site Slowing Down?

It's a slow time of year, but things should be picking up soon. I haven't posted much, but if the fishing picks up a bit, will do my best to post a report.

Re: Scary

It's going to be a water rights battle for sure this year. The fish will be the losers.

Re: Patagonia Riverwalker Sticky Rubber wading boots--UPDATE

After going swimming on the Henry's Fork a couple years ago, I bought some Simms felt soled waders for slippery footing wading, and only use my Patagonia Sticky soles for meadow streams, and grassy banks, where they excel. It's a good system now, without having to compromise.

Re: Moving to Denver...

Good luck on your new position and location! I have fond memories of coming down to the South Platte in the middle of winter from Steamboat, and using tiny flies for big fish. Keep us posted :)
