Re: The Big FIVE-OH...

I'd love to make it, but I'll be just getting home from a business trip that Friday afternoon. I'll be toast by then. Enjoy!

Re: New Book - Redband Trout Waters

Just placed my order. I really look forward to the read. With any luck, we'll be moving to Oregon within the next 4-5 years. Wife is ready to be back near her family, and I'm ready for a change in scenery. Doesn't hurt that Oregon is gorgeous, and has some amazing fishing.

Re: Bass in the Wid Trout Section of Owens

I've caught a few bass in the wild trout and middle sections. Last year on a drift trip, we actually saw a large trout (unsure if it was a brown or a rainbow) chasing a bass around one of the pools.

Re: Beginner Casting Class: Tuesdays Sept 9 – Oct 21 at 7pm

A personal observation. I took this class twice. I learned the first time but I really learned a lot the second year. As those who fish with me know, I am challenged at times when it comes to casting. They have a session in the clubhouse where they demonstrate the casts you will be learning and the...

Re: Anyone using Google Earth / Map Maker with success

Google has the Google earth app for any smart phone now. In addition to that, Google maps has a function to save a selected portion of the map you're looking at to your phone, for later offline use. Rich I wasn't using my phone - but I am now Thanks for the heads up Rich I gave it a try today to se...

Re: Unlimited "Jim's Mustache" Thread

I have to say, that is quite the 'stache! I started growing my first beard/mustache a couple months ago. Only took my 36 years to do it...I have a long way to go if this is the standard!

Re: Anyone using Google Earth / Map Maker with success

For me, Google Earth is my go to source for finding back woods access to streams and lakes. The only problem is I can't take it with me - the information is on the internet still. I've looked into the Google Map Maker which is all internet based, approved by committee and utterly useless to me. Wou...

Re: New member checking in

Oh most definitely! Pictures really do help to tell the tale. I generally try to make my posts go in chronological order, with a picture/group of pictures for each small chapter. I'll be heading up for my annual camping trip to the Bishop creek drainage next Wednesday night, so once I'm home I'll ge...

New member checking in

Hello, I'm Rich, a new member here! Just thought I'd check in with some vital statistics. Fly fishing now for I guess 7-8 years, I live in North Orange County, and I generally do most of my fly fishing in the Eastern Sierra region, with the lower Owens and Bishop Creek drainage my main focus. I'll b...
