Re: Is FFA Dead?

Hey everyone! Jim reached out to me and I have hopped on to see what's going on. First I wanted to say that it's INSANE that this forum is still going after so many years. While I'm more often found on Facebook and Ray is right that it's simply easier to use newer systems of social media to communic...

Re: Yosemite NP v. Looming Corpocracy

Did I miss something? I'm not seeing anything about NPS selling naming rights to corporations. I read an article about the NPS not locking down trademarks and a dubious private entity playing an asinine game of ransom because they were butthurt about not getting a contract. Legally the company can *...

Re: Help me understand Rio Versitip II

OK, I think I'm good. Going to head out to the river this afternoon because there's a break in the rain. Dropped from 40,000+ cfs to around 4500cfs right now, so hopefully some steelhead pushed in. The only way to find out I guess is to go throw some flies.

Re: Help me understand Rio Versitip II

Thanks Bob! I was thinking along those lines, but wasn't sure. The "clear" looks like light gray plastic to me, so I wasn't sure. I'm excited to use this in the rivers for the bigger fish (haven't hooked one yet, the rivers have been blown out all Nov and Dec). Also looking forward to usin...

Help me understand Rio Versitip II

Just got my Redington Behemoth 7/8 and 8wt Rio Versitip II in the mail. I'm trying to understand what tips came with it. It has a tip wallet with 4 tips, but they aren't marked. Their website just says "comes with a selection of interchangeable tips". I'm a newbie to sinking/sink tips. Her...

Re: Fun on 395 without a fly rod

I liked my steak dinner at the bowling alley. Pretty good for the price. Also, the casino had a moderately decent steak and egg breakfast for a killer price.

Glad you got out and had fun!

Re: Packing/shipping fish

Salmon guides likely run into this situation quite frequently and should be prepared to hook you up with info for the best company to use locally to the water you'll fish. Not sure where on the Columbia you'll be, but maybe see if you can talk the guide into (or find one that offers this service) a ...

Re: Kern River Fly Fishing Forum

I laughed a little out of disgust when I read that line about all conservatives just repeating what their church tells them, like churches are live-streaming Glenn Beck and Mark Levin. If there are churches out there that are 100% conservative and jeopardize their nonprofit status by preaching polit...

Re: Kern River Fly Fishing Forum

I was just pointing out that they added spambot logic. This morning they have spam though so I'm not sure what's going on or if they implemented it successfully.

Not my problem. :Pop:

Re: Catarafts

Benny, have you researched Saturn at all? http://www.saturnboats.com/

They have catarafts. I was thinking about getting their 14 or 15 foot inflatable boat with a trolling motor to putt around little lakes in WA with the kids.

Re: Kern River Website?? Down forever?

Benny, the Itinerant Angler site doesn't have much spam because of the same reason FFA doesn't have much spam: it has an "anti-spam question" that basically is a question that requires basic logic to understand and answer. A spambot doesn't have the logical capacity to process the question...

Re: Can you believe it?

That's too bad there wasn't more snow... I just got off the phone with my dad and he said they didn't get much snow. They live right near the Arrowhead village. But rain is good; hopefully the trout in the creeks nearby enjoy it. It rained decently here in Bakersfield, and I love it when the storm c...

Re: Redington Dually Switch rod

I was talking to David D'Beaupre at Sierra Trout Magnet Fly Shop about this rod. He's used them recently on the Trinity and sells them and can answer your questions (and sell you one too).

This is the rod I want too. I want the 6wt switch.
