Re: To Chile Tomorrow..I think...

I'd check with the state dept. on travel there. I'd think twice about it except for the fact that your dad is down there, that would push me in the going direction. Just don't tell anyone that you are from the U.S. Tell them that you are from Bishopastan. You know , just west of Nevadastan, south of...

Re: Helios or the One

The Helios was lighter and at first I actually like the Sage a little better but after I spent a little time with the Helios it pulled a little ahead. The lightness didn't feel as good at first but the more I used it the better that weight felt. Both rods were super accurate. I picked out a small ma...

Re: Helios or the One

Well, decision made. Rod bought and fished with on the east side last week. The town of Lone Pine ,it's citizens and it's evil Chukar are all safe. I drove south a very happy camper. I e-mailed a guide friend and his opinion was that for me a 9ft. rod would be a better call and after much thought I d...

Re: Helios or the One

Papa, you know , the first thing that came to mind when I read your post was " if i lite off those nukes I could finally get back at all those lower valley chukar around lone pine that have been tormenting me all these years " the ultimate chukar hunters revenge ! DEEP ,DEEP emotional scars.

Re: Helios or the One

Thanks guy's for your input. I plan on buying a FLY ROD, which is why i'm throwing the question out there. A few years ago I was in the market for a new rod and tried the zero gravity and the z-axis in the Marriot's parking lot. I really liked them both so I pulled the trigger and got both.A week la...

Helios or the One

Here's the situation, you are about to buy a new fly rod, 10ft. 4wt.for trout to be used on east side streams. you have only 2 choices , the Orvis Helios or Sage The One. Which do you choose ? No substitutions, no "yeah but's" ,these are your choices. Am looking for intel on these rods. Th...

Re: Indicators

Check with the trout fly in mammoth. they have a deep water system that they use on crowley. it will get you down where you want to go, when you ready to land your fish the indicator slides when it hits the tip of your flyrod. good luck.

Re: Hackle.....?

Shane is right, buying the 100 pack's is way more expensive in the long run than buying a full or half neck or saddle. About 15 years ago I had some down time because of an injury and counted the feathers on the saddles that I had at the time. this was more than 20 saddles , all whiting and a few ho...

Re: Lest We Forget

You could sit on my Granny's stoop in Brooklyn and see the Twin Towers, you just looked down the street and there they were. She just sat there that day and watched it all. She was 93 at the time, she's 103 now and it still breaks her heart. The neighborhood that she lives in was full of people that...

Orvis warrantee story

One of my favorite lines in the movie Forrest Gump is when he states " i'm not a smart main". I guess that the reason for that is that i'm not one either. Case in point--- my friend Kurt calls me and suggests that we hit a local pond for a spoon full of humiliation via the bass population ...
