Re: Is FFA Dead?

I still check in but since the GTW get together died, it's withered.

Re: When Do You Stop?

You're lucky. At least your local has not ceased to exist. Pine Valley Creek down here used to be a great spot for wild fish. Now, it's just a dry canyon.

Re: Cleaning Floatant Stains

Fish streamers? * Sorry I could not resist. That said, floatant stains are a drag. I surrendered myself to just leaving them as signs-of-wear .... you know, like scratches on a guitar ...Worse, for me, are sticky deposits of sap that happen when sitting on a log streamside ... - Bernard Rubbing alc...

Re: Noah, I want you to build an ark

What an awesome boat! Fantastic craftsmanship.

I'm headed back up to Wyoming around the middle of June. Found a few more nice spots last year, especially down on the Smith's Fork and over the Wyoming Range in the Cottonwood creeks.

Re: Cleaning Floatant Stains

Also, try some 91% rubbing alcohol. It worked great on some pine sap that I got on my bivy sack at CWL.

Re: Fall Colors - Planning Ahead

A trip to some of the petroglyphs outside Bishop is well worth it. Drive north on 6 cross west on Chidago Canyon Road, to the Red Canyon petroglyphs, then take Fish Slough Road south back to Bishop. You pass the Chidago Canyon petroglyphs directly east of the road and when you get to Fish Slough the...

Re: Fall Colors - Planning Ahead

I went to the site of High Plains Drifter! I found the big rock at the entrance to the town in the opening scene. Even found a small triangular piece of cut off wood that I presume came from the set.

Re: Fall Colors - Planning Ahead

Lundy Canyon is just north of Lee Vining, always a good location for fall colors. Very cool cabins and you can hike back into more color.

Re: Brookie Eradication

The brookies seem to have overrun one of the Colorado Cutthroat creeks I fished in Wyoming. Caught about a dozen before I found a cutthroat. It would be nice to see them removed from some native waters. Isolated Sierra lakes, not so much an issue. John John, Didn’t you have mountain lion problems a...

Re: Is it Worth It?

Have not seen any reports from anywhere for a while. I suppose DC is still harboring some trout, although I know Holcomb Creek was completely dry over the summer as my buddy rode his moto through the area.

Re: Backpacking Alone - A Solitary Experience, Or Am I A Mor

Rayfound has a good list! And, going in from the Forks seems best. I've been almost to Kern Flat the one time I went in October down the Forks trail to the Kern, was pretty much flat the whole way. Lots of trash and broken glass in the campsites, and I found several .30-06 casings (recently fired), ...

Re: Where Did Everyone Go?

MIke, Great to hear from you, I miss our little creek in east county!!! I try to walk at least 5 miles/day but have been working full time running the auto shop program at one of our local high schools. I'm hoping they find a full time permanent hire soon as it's been a lot more work than I expected...
