Re: New to Fly Fishing Addicts

Welcome aboard, Gabriel. If I recall correctly, you were out on the beach hooking up big time the last time I came down and fished Malibu with Bill and the gang. Hope to read more of your reports.

Re: Newbee Intro 2

Welcome aboard. Hope to see you on the Lower Kings this Fall/Winter - that's usually the only time I get to wet a line up Fresno way.

If you are in the neighborhood on Saturday morning, stop by and say Hi! There might be as many as 12 of us slingin' flies on the beach

Re: Slap Yourself Moments or The Basics Revisited

Hey Everyone, Thanks for chiming in. Last few days had me way off the grid at a very much nocturnal video shoot at, of all places, the LA River. It is CREEPY down there at 3 am! There are some great insights here. Many resonate with recent headaches I have had and others that I may avert. Thanks! O...

Re: favorite brand of intermediate line?

Wow, lots of great info but unfortunately many different choices! I have some serious thinking to do. Richard, is the outbound short you're talking about an intermediate head as well as intermediate running line? I'll have to take a look at those, it'd be nice to get some serious distance with it! ...

Re: Slap Yourself Moments or The Basics Revisited

On a few trips each year, I get reminded of the basic fact that if you don't bring it with you, you can't use it. Over the years, I've got a long list of stuff that I left back home in the garage including, but not limited to, the fly rod I wanted to use, the fly box I wish I had, the waders that wo...

Re: favorite brand of intermediate line?

I've been using Rio's Outbound Short line (Intermediate sink) on my 6wt and love it. It has a 30ft head integrated into a thin running line so you can boom out the casts a long ways. The 30ft head for the 6wt weighs in at 240grn which gives the proper weight to load up a 6wt with only 30ft of line i...

Re: Streamer Setups

I've got two basic streamer setups. My first is a 5wt on which I use a 15ft sinktip line (Rio if I recall). I've had fun days on the Kings and the Kern with this setup. I chuck it across stream, throw a big upstream mend into the line, let it drift down and across and then I strip it back towards me...

KRFF Club is going to the beach - June 12

KRRF Surf Outing On Saturday June 12, 2010, the KRFF gang is going to the beach. This year I hope to drive over to Carpinteria on Friday after work and spend the night so I don’t have to get up super early on Saturday like I usually do when going to the beach. Plan to come over the night before or ...
