Bass in the Wid Trout Section of Owens

I spent the last 4 days fishing in the upper and middle Owens. While fishing the Wild Trout section, I had a strange catch show up. I caught a 10" bass, in fine shape. Not sure if it was a Largemouth or a spotted bass. Dark green lateral line was solid, not broken, like I've seen on the spots. ...

Re: This is why I fish at sunrise,,,

That's awful "purdy". Not quite the same colors as a single digit morning on the upper O with all the sparkling diamonds of frost on the tall grass against a white backdrop. But still nice.

Re: Poor Guide Etiquette

The culprit has been identified. He was spot hired by a Bishop guide service. The owner has assured me that the culprit will not be hired again. The owner had found out about the incident from the clients.

I feel somewhat vindicated.

Poor Guide Etiquette

Wednesday afternoon, Uncle Ron & I were fishing the upper O near the Hot Creek Confluence. We were the only two on the river for a half mile or more in either direction. A guide which I am not familiar with, parked approx 500 yards below us, marches himself and 4 clients up river and plants one ...

Re: Four pound tippet or fluorocarbon

I use the 6#, 4#, and 2# Vanish or P-line for nearly all nymphing. Buy the 150 or 300 yrd spools for better price. Much more cost effective. For dries... furled and the above for tippet material.

Re: Carry-on rods & reels???

REcap of trip: No problems going to MT with FishPond carry-on for rods and reels. On the homeward bound trip, the gate attendant in Billings gave me some grief because the carry-on did not fit in the carry-on measuring device. I showed her the measurements (31+4.5+9.5)were 45 linear inches, as detai...

Carry-on rods & reels???

I'm off to Billings, MT later this week and was wondering if anyone has had trouble carrying on rods and reels on destination flights? I have used a Fishpond Dakota case before, but that was 5 years ago. Any recent experiences cared to be shared?
