Re: Forest service temporarily closes all SCNFs.

Sooo....what does this do to my Yosemite trip I have planned and got permits for on the 21st?! I am currently in the YNP area and even if all back country was open, I would be hesitant due to insanely poor air quality. All said, I hope you are successful and would love to hear what pans out f...

Re: Underwater

Great stuff! As the son of an underwater photographer and an avid water-person I fail miserably at having more cool UW footage. Matt, I remember that Holy Grail footage fondly. The footage of the fish framed by a small "cave" really adds a special touch. On Instagram I have been following ...

I'm with you. That's my go-to method sprinkled with a few additional false casts and it usually does the trick.

Re: Ultralight Wader Recommendations Please

I love seeing an older thread survive. Thank you for the comments. Every now and then I splurge on something but pulling the trigger on those Patagonias is hard! I know they ROCK and Patagonia is very good about customer/product support. Hmmmm ...

Re: Corbina Video

So true Jeff. Spotting them isn't necessarily crazy impossible but getting them to grab a fly can be a curious proposition! I went out today and found them thick with no love for the merkin. Threw a small clouser and began fishing perpendicular to the beach and hooked up. Tomorrow I plan to experime...

Corbina Video

Hello everyone ... Despite being off to a strong start this year with the "beans" - the game got a bit frustrating and I have instead been enjoying some long neglected bass fishing. All that said, I did take a walk recently just to document corbina in the shallows. For those who have never...

Re: My first time playing with a critter cam

rkfiske wrote:* I should have taken a look at the forum before I bought. Just literally bought a trail cam on a whim to try to see who just ate some of the bean seeds I planted. If I get to the bottom of it, I'll post it here!

We look forward to the report!

Re: My first time playing with a critter cam

Richard - LOVE the bobcat!

Jeff - YES you are so right. I have great footage of shadows of trees blown by the wind.

McFlyfi - Thanks for the insights

Re: My first time playing with a critter cam

Jason - go for it! Ants - as far as UW - I am not sure. One of challenges I have found with these cameras is that they also will pick up all sorts of movements that you didn't even think of so, for example, should a tree sway due to a strong breeze, it could trigger the camera. Placing the camera an...

My first time playing with a critter cam

Hello Fellow Addicts! Thought y'all might enjoy this informal review of my first foray into the realm of critter cams. Footage was captured in the Los Padres. The partial Mt. Lion footage was from a location where we saw tracks on previous visits. Seeing critters are part of the fun when you fish ri...

Re: Big Agnes Customer Support

Very much appreciated. I have a Big Agnes pad that is also leaking. It has served me well over many years but ... I hate throwing anything out and I HATE trying to find and fix leaks.

Re: Small Stream Leader

UPDATE: Tried out those leader links at long last and really love the almost imperceptible bump as it passes through he tip top. It may go without saying but these are not advisable for burly situations but for small stream applications, just dandy. Thank you Jeff.

Re: LA Times on Fly Fishing - local video

Oh, the trials of teaching a newbie the fine arts of flinging flies. Takes a ton of patience. Ain't that the truth. Almost lost a friendship the other day as I freaked out in agony watching a buddy fail to set the hook, oh, a thousand times, when a fish took the nymph under his dropper (and, of cou...
