Re: The Water Explodes - how to land that fish

For some reason my IP address is occasionally refused. Nice comments. I generally fish 5x tippet and typical size fish get brought to the net quickly. Many times I am using an older Plueger Medalist so drag settings are not much more than a click and pawl reel. The reels for heavier weight lines hav...

The Water Explodes - how to land that fish

When it happens, it is memorable. I can recall at least a half-dozen times on various waters. The fish caught generally are 10-16 inches. Lots of time I am nymphing with a 5X tippet and maybe 10-15 feet of line. The water is generally only 2-3 feet deep. Suddenly, the water explodes. A surprise fish...

Re: Some Drone Footage For The Heck Of It

Nice drone's eye view.

I would enjoy more views from the tops of the canyon walls since I will never get there.

Any fish?

Re: See You On The Other Side.....

Here's wishing the best with all the changes. Changes are exciting, but sometimes just plain work. Comparing your new place to Papasequoia's place, both places look like they could host a volcano party under the proper circumstances. Just wondering, how much work is it to transport the livestock? Ev...

Re: Update to Forest Closure Orders

The house is located on unincorporated county land, so forest closure has no impact. There seems to be a diligent efforts to keep folks off the forest service land with the hot springs as well as the lake shoreline. A trip upriver was made in smoky conditions until the road closure at JD bridge and ...

Re: Forest service temporarily closes all SCNFs.

BLM has closures also. The area below Lake Isabella Dam was closed for a year when Covid closures started.

A recent closure was the drainage area for the Creek Fire.

There is a BLM closure around Slink Fire.

Who know what may happen if all the USFS dispersed campers head to BLM lands?

Re: Looking for a New #3wt

I am not sure if you are looking for a complete rod or a blank to build. I bought a 3 wt blank(MRM - XRX 9003 - 4 pic) from F E Chase of Bigfoot MT a few years ago. Two rods were built, one with single foot guides and one with snake guides. The rods have been my go to favorite for years. There is a ...

The camera mount has been ordered.

Good that the fish were in the neighborhood. I trust a few remain.

Re: Underwater

That was an impressive video of the steelhead. My surprise on the Umpqua River was a viewing window that showed the salmon and steelhead on the opposite side of the dam. The fish count was also posted at the site. The underwater digital camera with video is on hand. There is also a 15 foot, 1-inch d...

Re: Underwater

Thanks for the fish-eye view. It gets me wondering. Would an underwater camera be easily to control if you wanted to explore some of the deeper holes in local waters? I have always been tempted to dive some of these places. Maybe I have to start some underwater camera holder experiments. The Metoliu...

Re: Yellowstone river

That is impressive!

Was that occurring regularly? Or at least enough that it was worth the wait.

Re: Urban Wildlife in Action

Thanks for the action shots. We also have Cooper's hawks in the neighborhood. The visual evidence is typically just a flurry of feathers.
