Re: Fly rod set up

I don't have much experience with Orvis rods. However I'm sure someone will chime in. An 8'6" 5wt is a good all around rod though. I typically fish a 9' 4wt for those same waters. If I were buying my first rod I would get a 5wt. Let us know what you settle on.

Boy, you sure picked a great spot for all kinds of outdoor activities. Welcome aboard and here's to many hours of getting "reacquainted" with fly fishing again.

Fantastic summer if you ask me. Regarding the thrown rock - my buddy is convinced big foot lives in that area :).

Central Cal TR

Pretty water and nice fat fish - I could deal with some Mosquitos for that pay off.

M*$#!*

Bummer! Third section? My favorite rod is out of commission at the moment. Broke the tip - Sage fit it and gave me three sections to wrap. Sentimental rod too... Hopefully not the case for you.

Re: nothing but net

Thanks for your comments. I see a trend here... Greg's nets are impressive. With the seven layer lamination and the quality of his hardwoods, they're just beautiful. However, I'm not looking for an heirloom quality net for this application. I do hope to be able to pick up a smaller net from him in t...

nothing but net

On a recent trip I lost two nice fish at the net. A steep bank, deep water and net too small for the fish did not help matters. Its time for a new net with a longer handle. I've looked a bit - but am curious what you are using and if you like it. I appreciate any comments.

It seems to take several forums to get the story

Welcome Ants. I've been In both those stores with waiders and boots without problems (no studs). Somehow the floorboard of my truck seems to attract most of the dirt. I also smile a lot and tease the employees. Maybe they're cursing me under their breath?! Love the breakfast sandwiches and sausages ...

Re: The best way to kill a fish

I sent him an email addressing my concerns - concerns that became amplified when I clicked on the spin fishing report. Don't check it out unless you want to see a bunch of dead fish on stringers or people squeezing the * out of trout. Is this the same owner? I know the shop was for sale...
