Re: Exploring New Waters

How exciting Arvin! New adventures await you up there along with new friends and water. I'm sure it will be an adjustment for a time but with time it will become home. You're just a keyboard away my friend and photos say a thousand words so make them say I wish you were here and at the same time mak...

Re: Horse Hair Leaders

Ineresting how the old stuff still works, imagine that. Hey Jim, do you have horses with transparent tails? Luc, the blonde hair looks very much like mono when it's all furled together. You can't hardly see too much difference. Thanks for this thread, Rick. Makes me laugh every time I read it...

Re: Been going through some things.

Josh, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle. I know how you feel. My brother passed away at the same age of 44 back in the 80s. It's something you don't expect and that makes it all the more difficult. Take care Josh.

Re: Horse Hair Leaders

I forgot to post how the leader worked on the Kern last week. It casts really well, turns over nicely and didn't break on any of the fish I caught. I got snagged on the bottom a couple of times and even with having to give it a fairly good tung to retrieve the fly, it didn't break. The smallest snoo...

Re: You make the call

It looks like they're trying to snag fish to me too. I guess when you aren't smart enough to know how to catch a fish on a drifting fly, you have to resort to snaging them. I noticed they couldn't snag them very easily. I guess we know who was smarter. THE FISH.

Re: Furled Leaders

Thanks David. I have an 11 foot leader board and have made several leaders already. I also bought a furling machine hand made from brass a while back that made twisting and furling the leaders evenly a breeze. $200 but worth it if you make your own.

Re: KernVille and the river

I have a doctors appt in the morning at 8:30 and we'll head up after that. We'll be there in the early afternoon, maybe late morning if we're lucky. Bill, you could stay the night in our site if you'd like. Eric won't be going and we can have two tents per site. You're more than welcome. Space 75 ne...

Re: Horse Hair Leaders

Thanks for all the comments that made me LMAO. Luc, it depends on how many strands you use in the last snood. Chris acctually made a leader with a single hair for the tip of one of his leaders. It's very delicate but you can catch fish with a single hair on the end. A snood is a section of twisted h...
