Re: I would consider dry fly fishing here.

That's the first time I have heard you say you would fish a dry! Spring creeks are amazing fisheries. Here's another place to consider :)

Re: Importance Of Casting

Casting really comes into play when fishing for selective trout that spook easily, as Midger pointed out so well. I have never been a good caster, but manage to catch a few fish. One lesson I learned this spring on the Henry's Fork was to spend more time getting in good casting position, and making ...

Re: Stripping basket

They sure come in handy. One thing to always remember, as Dean taught me, drill LOTS of holes in them to make sure they drain quickly after a wave fills them up.

Re: A Brownie of a different color!

Alaska is truly a wild place. I found out quickly that it's always bear o'clock there. He was a lucky man.

Re: Two fisted fishing

The first big salmon I hooked and landed on a 13' 6' two hander convinced me there was something to this spey fishing. Not just effortless long casts, but the ability of the long rod in fighting big fish are really assets. Now, if I can just get time to use it this fall and winter...

Re: Chota has lost a repeat customer

While it's not good that they fell apart, it's even more disturbing they didn't stand by their product. Both Patagonia and Simms have made good on product issues for me. Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Magnetic Net Release

Nets are pretty handy when you are deep wading, and I think the ability to net a fish quickly saves wear and tear on the fish. I have the same magentic set up, but put the net side magnet on the hoop rather then the handle. It seems to catch less branches when I bushwack with that configuration.

Re: Are Your waders Wetting Out? Leaking? Wader 101

After a pretty busy year of fishing :) I did the same thing, Mike. I could not believe the holes, pin leaks, barb wire cuts, and abrasions. They are all repaired and ready to go for the fall Sierra season. Remembering how cold Pyramid Lake and the Truckee are, it was a wise thing to do!
