Re: Looking for a float tube

I picked up a Cumberland Float Tube at Cabellas for $219 bucks that has a 350 lb load capacity. Since I have only used it once, it's tough to give a report other then it was comfortable and with the foam seat kept me out of the water. Neopremes are ok in frigid water, but the comfort of breathables ...

Re: Where is the threshold of pain?

Tough question. There are a lot of good discounted rods out there right now. Some of them were last years' super rods, that are reduced to half price or even less. That being said, the 10ft 9wt NRX that I purchased (at full price) to fish salt and salmon has totally met my expectations. My biggest p...

Re: My Ultralight Backpacking Equipment List

Wow! That's quite a checklist. I can remember hauling 30-40 lbs (depending if we recently hit a food cache) on the John Muir trail in 1973.Your current gear selection is so much more refined. Backcountry gear has improved so much over the last few decades! Good post, Richard.

Re: Members' Bio: Where'd you come from?

Welcome back, Chris. I started all 3 of my daughters fishing when they were three. I know I have said it before on this forum, but because I believe it so much, I will say it again. If you want to spend time with your kids, teach them to do what you love to do. It sure worked for me :)

Re: Beast on the Truckee

<<<I saw that thread also, how lame is that!>>> Yep. That's one of the many reasons why I don't post to that forum any longer. What shoulda been an attaboy post for a guy nailing the fish of a lifetime (and the guide too), turned into the usual "my johnson is bigger than your johnson" fig...

Re: Beast on the Truckee

I saw that picture while I was up there. There are some PIGS on the Truckee. It will do nothing but get better as fall moves in. It won't be long until we can fish Pyramid :)

Re: Lamson Konic's On Sale

That's a great deal! I have 3 Lamsons with sealed drags. They really help in the salt, or when the dust flies on windy days.

Re: How many fly rods do you actually use?

First the disclaimer; I have around 100 fly rods in my quiver, from ultralight up to 12 WT, most of the popular line weights in a variety of lengths to do whatever job I need to do. So, I have no shortage of rods from which to choose! :o So over the previous year I used 18 rods, which represents ab...

Re: Gear Bag - What do you use?

For flying I use an Orvis Safe Passage, and older model. It has served me well, and when it had an issue, Orvis made it right after years of use. I can't say enough good about their service. http://www.orvis.com/store/product2.aspx?pf_id=5L6A For car fishing I use an Abel wading bag. Like the Orvis,...
