Re: They're Baaack

Great article! It brought back memories of working on Salmon restoration when living in the PNW. The run two years after the first fish come back is the best gauge for the intial success of the first run. The fry have many challenges on their journey back but salmon are amazing survivors. Two rivers...

Re: Adjustable Thingamabobber

Dang, that's too much work. Just tie a small balloon on the line and be done with it. Wet the line and slide the balloon up or down as needed. Balloons are cheaper (like a buck/100 at the $ Store) , lighter, and easier to cast, and they come in a multitute of colors. keith Nice innovation but if yo...

Re: Kids Academy Poker Night

Did you know that Bill is a professional gambler from Carson City? just kidding ....if he is as competetive at cards as he is at fishing, then he deserves to win. Shane, I'm working on getting some polarized eye protection for the kids next year. Swanee The Carson bunch had a great weekend. Bill an...

Re: Kids Academy Poker Night

Thirty plus poker players, donors, showed up and it was a blast! We've had the pleasure of teaching 77 new students, plus many parents, in the five years of the KA. Each year four or five students return to volunteer. That makes me the proudest.....The kids, get it! Looking forward to next year. The...

Re: River Kern Trash problem - This may help

Well I wanted to get this conversation started and I'm pleased to see the responses. I apologize for not being more vocal but for the past week I've in the hospital having my arortic valve replaced in my heart so I will admit that my concerns were elsewhere for a time. As someone stated there is no...

Re: Importance Of Casting

Some of the best casters are the worst fishermen. They sling line all over the river casting over fish, scaring fish, and letting it drag all over the river. Casting means nothing if your presentation sucks. When teaching newbies I teach getting in position, proper presentation, a simple roll cast.....

Re: River Kern Trash problem - This may help

Spent Friday night in Kernville at a poker fundraiser with the SSFF. A few local business owners were present and all of them are tired of the trash and destruction and expressed that several fellow business owners feel the same. Was it a commercial rafting company, or just a group of pigs.

By the way, I received a response from the Kernville Chamber. Anyone interested in it, and the attached document, I can PM it to you.

Re: River Kern Trash problem - This may help

Pictures of p o o p bags left behind by a large rafting party...I was livid when taking these pictures. Dispersed camping area of course. Shouldn't rafters know better? How do I know they were rafters? Saw them camping on Saturday and went back late Sunday to fish the run after they left. http://i21...

Re: River Kern Trash problem - This may help

The Kern's my home river. Educate with a constant presence and a big ticket book. Word travels fast among criminals when the "law" is present. Very simple start. I would encourage many letters to the Chamber of Commerce since they have a couple movers and shakers on board who will fight fo...
