Re: Line Recommendations

All of the current generation flylines from major manufacturers are fantastic lines. You won't go wrong buying any of them. Rio, Orvis, Sci Angler, Airflo, Wulff, and on and on and on are all fantastic. Let your budget, product availability, and fishing requirements be the decision maker, not a rand...

Re: 8 1/2 or 9 foot?

I've bought around 100 fly rods in my lifetime and not a single one of those is 8.5' long!!!! I tend to like bigger rods 9-11', but then again I spend most of my time on bigger rivers/creeks fishing from a boat/floatie thingy. When I'm not on bigger waters, I'm mostly fishing smaller creeks where I ...

Re: Rattlesnake protection

Two thoughts as the former medical ranger when I was serving with the USNPS.
1) An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
2) The rattler that gets you is the one you never see

Re: Yellowstone Bans Felt Wading Soles

No more Korkers for me!!!! :fireangry: A bunch of people tout the "new generation" of Korkers, but they lost my business day 10 of wearing the first pair of boots. Nothing like losing soles in the mud, then having your buddies ask you what happened to your boots. The expression "you ...

Re: Yellowstone Bans Felt Wading Soles

I got less than a year on my Korkers until the retaining strap that secures the sole to the boot cracked and separated. Now they are useless. No more Korkers for me. :fireangry: It's a great idea having interchangable soles but.......... :booty: I'm with Bob. Korkers blow. I'll forever trash them t...

Re: Good waders for hiking? Wading pants?

There are NO breathable waders suitable for hiking in, IMNSHO. You produce so much sweat/water vapor that it overwhelms the breathability of the fabric and you end up soggy on the inside no matter how breathable the waders are. If you want to cover serious miles on the trail, pack in a pair of ultra...

Re: Low Cost CNC Chinese Reels???

Something to try to convert to left hand wind. Inside the spool you can see a locking clip holding the bushing in place. Remove the locking clip and then the bushing. Flip the bushing over (they are usually reversible) and reassemble. That might work to convert to lefty.

Re: Low Cost CNC Chinese Reels???

My 2 WT reel (an extremely expensive Sage U/L fly reel) measures (using the same scheme as that one), with a WF-2 line and about 50 yds of 20 # backing:
2 7/8 " reel diameter
7/8" spool width

Re: Low Cost CNC Chinese Reels???

At $13/16 a pop, you aren't really risking much dough! I've never seen one so I can't help out there but I'd imagine it's not very good, but then again at $13/16.............

Re: Bye bye, Photobucket

As of right now, PB is still providing access to your photo's and you can download them to a drive or stick. The only thing they've disabled is photo hosting on forums like this one. But, if you don't have the photo's any where but PB (that would be a mistake!), I'd be downloading to your storage de...

Re: Bye bye, Photobucket

Me too, I also have a paid PB subscription. I've heard that PB is honoring their subscriptions through DEC 2018 and if you have a paid account in good standing they will not cut you off. Mine is still working. Doesn't matter to me though, I've switched to IMGUR already as the extortion fee PB wants ...

Re: Intriguing Legal Strategy

Please remember that under state eminent domain laws, Inyo County would be required to pay "fair market value" for the lands they want. A big difference is using eminent domain to acquire the referenced landfill versus trying to get back all the "purchased" land in which LADWP ac...
