Re: Scary

Just a couple good solid storms would put is in decent shape though. Wearing shorts all winter has been nice. Not getting any snow/rain has been pretty awful though.

Re: Robert Behnke 12/29/1929 - 9/13/2013

Man, he's kinda my hero. I emailed back and forth with him/his wife a couple times and they seemed like great folks. Sad times.

Our community lost a good one, probably the single best researcher in terms of trout biology the world has yet seen.

Re: Welding Loops

Nice brian. I suspect the adjustable heat gun is key... my results with a flame were mixed a couple years ago.

Also, note this only works on PVC lines. Urethane lines won't work.

Re: Busted Butt Creek.........A Sad Update.......

Bummer. Post Concussive symptoms lasted a couple weeks for me and then sort of trail off... not like one day just gets cured, but a little less over time until eventually you notice it is "gone". Take care. Rest (best you can). and be careful with your noggin, it is the only one you've got.

When I drove by on the 91 the other day, the lakes looked like they were completely empty.

Re: SAR Question

I have a SPOT. I have it go to a few people who I think would know what to do, or know where I am going, in addition to my Family. I would think that numbers for the appropriate agencies would be a good 1st start and worth carrying. I would expect County Sheriff would be able to interface with other...

Re: Water Temperatures and Trout

When the water reaches the high temperature, they won't bother biting much anyway.

Re: Alternative for Air Bed while car camping?

Well...mine is actually a cover from a rv bunk mattress, that being said it would be fairly easy to make something equivalent out of some cotton fabric.

Re: Alternative for Air Bed while car camping?

I kinda Home-brewed a solution to this. My wife and I had a queen-sized Mattress topper (Memory foam)...Then we got a new one. I split the old one down the middle and doubled it up to make it a 30" Wide x 74" (cut 6" off the 80" length) long x 5" thick. It is crazy comfy... ...

Road-Trippin' (week1)

Gentlemen, the next 3 weeks or so I will be putting a ton of miles on for work, traveling all over the western US. My schedule is basically that I will be traveling/working M-F, and flying home on the weekends. I am trying to find some time (that I haven't had at home) to do a little fishing in the ...

NZMS: are we moving deck chairs on the Titanic?

This article has bot me thinking that maybe all the wader washing, felt-abolishing, and 409 sales are in vain:

http://www.tested.com/news/articles/43487-snails-travel-hundreds-of-miles-inside-duck-intestine--/

Maybe there are too many natural vectors for fishermen to have an impact?
