Re: Set that parking brake..........

I have seen that sort of thing happen many times on the launch ramp in Dana Pt. Most times adult beverages were in the mix.

Re: Fun on 395 without a fly rod

I think I'll carry my flyrods with me, even with the wife and dog in tow. ;)

A couple of new rod reviews,

At the fly fishing Faire in Bishop I got to cast various new rods from several rod manufactures including Sage, Redington, Hardy, Fenwick, and others. One rod that stood out from all the rest was the new Hardy Wraith. The 9’ 5wt was the finest casting rod I have ever cast. It is a fast action rod wi...

My only fear is when I die, my wife sells my flyrods and reels for what I told her I paid for them! ;)

Re: 2wt vs 3wt: Is there a difference???

Oh yeah. We have five 10-weights of various makes and models on the boat right now, one shipped off to Sage for repair, and a couple of more in the rack at home as spares. Don't EVEN get me started on 8-weights. I don't really want to know how many, assuming I could even find them all on short noti...

SF 11-year-old makes fly-casting history

I have watched Chris Korich coach Maxine for the last two years. She is an incredible caster and will only get better with time. She also understands the casting fundamentals and can quickly analyze others casting problems and can come up with a solution to help them improve. She is also a great fly...

Re: 2wt vs 3wt: Is there a difference???

I have found there is not much difference between a 3 or 4 wt or a 4 or 5wt for me to justify purchasing every size rod. Vast wisdom there! I started fly fishing with an even-weight rod (6WT), so our rack holds mostly even-weights as I jumped uphill and down 2 rod sizes at a hop. If I'm an even guy...

Re: 2wt vs 3wt: Is there a difference???

Littlefish, Here is something I learned to save a few bucks. I mostly purchase odd weight rods, 1,3,5,7 etc. It means I can use the same 3 wt line and reel on a few different rods, I own 9 3 wt rods. (Don't tell my wife). ;) I have found there is not much difference between a 3 or 4 wt or a 4 or 5wt...

Re: 2wt vs 3wt: Is there a difference???

Littlefish, You don't need to be a member to practice at the LBCC, they don't really have any rods you would want to try, but most members who are casting on the pond won't mind letting you try one of their rods, just ask. They also have a free 5 week casting class coming up this fall. The dates hav...

Re: 2wt vs 3wt: Is there a difference???

Everybody will have an opinion on what rod to get, what might work for them may not be what you want. Some may be great casters and can cast 30’ without a rod, and others with the best rods made can’t form a loop! ;) You should try as many rods as you can before you buy. Go to a good fl...

Re: Road Trip Advice Thread

You are lucky to have the opportunity to move to a place like that so early in life. Your route looks epic and you should have lots of good fishing and camping spots to choose from. One thing I would suggest is a series of books based on Fly Fishing to the states you plan on going through. I have fo...
