Re: LA Times Article- Arroyo Seco Trout

McFlyfi wrote:...Bernard- the picture on the front page lists a Darrell Kunitomi- wasn't he from the old Flyfisher Magazine forum?

Same guy. A man who loves small streams and cares about the locals. He's active on Facebook should you care to reconnect with him.

Seriously!

Dean,
I am especially pleased to see you tie the Black Ghost (Maribou). I dabble in fishing with "old school" streamers and sometimes the payoff is wonderful. Keep up the good work!

Re: Redington Classic Trout Rod- 7'6" 2wt

Fantastic!
At some point, I think we'd love to see a pic of the rod with a fish :)

Re: The SGs [WFSG]

Wow. Ok, mad props to you that you could recover that quad. You had some serious distance going with it when it lost connectivity and attempted RTH and those hills are no joke. I think newer DJI models have an obstacle avoidance system that is on even during RTH operations, enabling it to avoid tre...

Re: The SGs [WFSG]

Pretty harrowing scenario Bernard. Good on you to trudge a mile, up hill, through impossibly thick brush, to retrieve your "Trash" when others so blatantly toss theirs nonchalantly into the very wilderness they are seeking peace & refuge in. I will NEVER get that. The burn scar will h...

Re: The SGs [WFSG]

Not at all happy about the drone crash but since it did happen I can't deny I was looking forward to the video. Even before the crash it was still a cool video of the canyon. - Understood. That was part of the reason I did not give up hope when I lost it. It was stressful but then I kept saying &qu...

Re: The SGs [WFSG]

You bring up a good point...I was always amazed at the sheer volume of cigarette butts we would find when we fought wild fires in the Cajon Pass along the freeway. When the grass burned away, there would a zaillion butts exposed the distance a flick from a car might take them. This was always conti...

The SGs [WFSG]

I figure that several forum members might be interested in this image of the hills above the WFSG: https://trouthugger.blogspot.com/2021/03/scorched-earth-policy.html . I went early one weekend to get drone footage of the fire damage and launched from a safe (and legal) parking spot to see if I coul...

Re: Bernard Made Me Do It

LOVE it ha ha ha! Low approaches are a blast. I practiced a few this morning on the beach over a long row of trash cans. Just trying to stay in practice. I may switch from the 1st Gen Mini to the Mini 2 myself. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Short rods- 6'- 7'

Fun topic and I am not sure if there are any perfect answers or bad answers ... For a chuckle, I have a good friend who buys used "crappy" brands off of ebay; barely functional gear for local streams because, as has been mentioned, one isn't necessarily watching a fish go into your backing...

Re: Drone Risers

The pressure that your locals get is tremendous. I so love to see the evidence that in spite of all that's been done, there is still wild things that walk and fly and swim in our national forests so close to millions. Thanks for sharing Agreed. Luckily many trout either live in well-hidden spots or...

Drone Risers

I posted a short clip recently on Instagram. It should be shared here as well. High above a flat section of a local stream with deer prints were some rising trout. This was a few days ago. The footage is slightly zoomed-in because I did not want the drone to disturb the fish. Enjoy: https://www.inst...

And to you and yours and everyone else here as well. I feel that 2021 will remain very challenging. I think we can agree that getting out on the water is going to save us!
