Re: Good wading boot thread

meb wrote:Do small rocks and pebbles get caught in the Crocs?

Not really. Sometimes when hiking through loose/dry decomposing organic material, you need to clean them out once in a while.

The softness of the foam rubber really forms around the texture of the (wet or dry) rocks, giving great traction.

Re: Good wading boot thread

Inspired by Chris, and wanting something light and easy to carry I got some knockoff crocs, and I've found them as good or better than my felt boots (which I prefer sans-cleats) .

They offer no snakebites protection though.

Re: Crossing Private/Leased Land in Streambed??

talk to the landowner. if its not "Navigable", you don't have the right to walk through their land, I don't think.

Re: Rattle snakes are still out there!

This is a terrible tragedy. Like Rob, I've always assumed a rattlesnake bite would cost me a few really miserable days, but on balance, chances are good everything would work out OK. I'm a bit shaken by this story. We often how its the young, drunk, and stupid who end up getting bitten by the buzzta...

Re: Welded Loops and Leader Connections

As a followup to andy... I've tried the welded loops, I've tried the loop connectors, and decided the loop for me is made with tying thread and the flyline looped over itself. a little superglue and they seem to last forever. (The "Whipped Loop" Video Brian Posted on P. 3) Its very easy an...

Re: Be aware of what you type

It is my understanding that this stems from a couple different things, not anyone in particular. However, I do believe there is a difference between the use of "Vulgarities" which is allowed in the smokey back room, and derogatory terms/slurs, which don't belong within our community. We're...

Vintage Glass Rod

So, uh, on a bit of a whim, I purchased a vintage St Croix Imperial Fiberglass 7 Weight. Its an "Ultralight", and says: "7090 XL 8' 3 5/8 oz Rated for 7 WGT Line" Its a 2 piece rod, and the ferrule has a weird O-ring in it. It came with a Martin 61 Tuna-can reel. The rod is real ...
