Re: East Side Rondezvous - a TR

Thanks guys. I'll throw more up as I go more often. I want to do more of two things this year. Hit the Kern river drainage more and the surf. Both of which are a reasonably close to me. Not to mention Castaic and Pyramid lake. Artin-great trip report and photos! That area is like heaven this time of...

Re: East Side Rondezvous - a TR

It was a fantastic trip. The birds wised up and left probably deeper. I am not giving up on them. I have never hunted there there is probably a learning curve.

Re: This is fly Mag is out

Nice,
Thanks for a heads up. How do you find these mags? I'm looking into subscriptions but don't know which tp get yet. These online ones are pretty cool and may replace. Are there any more regionally local? Kinda like Southwest Fly fishing Mag?

East Side Rondezvous - a TR

Packed with intel on birds I headed up to the what is and always be an area that's very special to me. The East Side! I caught my first respectable trout here. I learned how to fly fish here which as time passed turned into fly tying and eventually trying to build bamboo fly rods. We didn't camp but...

Re: Just a nice Quote...

I agree and confess to being guilty of using power bait and salmon eggs and crickets as a young fisherman. I did skip over the lure/spinner fishing mostly though as I graduated into the fly fishing university. Glad I did. It has been a godsend for sure. Love every second of it. I do revert back to t...

Just a nice Quote...

So I receive a bamboo rod building newsletter called the planing form. There was an article in the May/June issue which quoted a guy from Michigan who at the time was the a shop owner and executive secretary of TU. His name was Art Newmann. ”Flyfishermen shouldn’t be... and are not snobs. It takes s...

Re: Yearly Trip (ALASKA)

I'm a Johnny come lately to this thread, but if it's tranquility without crowds, I'd recommend a self guided float trip. We did one using Tri River Charters out of Talkeetna. I looked into that from a tip I got from Brains, It is definitley something I will do, but I think I'd need more time in Ala...

Re: Yearly Trip (ALASKA)

Brown Bear I checked out Mossy's and looks like i will definitely be a stop for us. A day with a guide isn't a bad idea at all. Thanks for that tip. The rainbows in the Kenai are a target for me actually. I hope I get to feel one of those guys on the other end of my line. Bows that big are pretty ol...
