June 8 update: Well, it's melting fast, for sure. This is 10 days ago on the banks of Lake Mary: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f18/spandoc/2017/IMG_3134_zpsvtwhqb5f.jpg This was today: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f18/spandoc/2017/IMG_3202_zps0tziq1rm.jpg On the other hand, the lake hasn't ...

Re: To much Snow!!

Went for a walk around the lakes basin yesterday - I can't imagine why they canceled your reservation, Benny. Oh wait, did I mention we were using snowshoes? The town is telling everyone they don't know when the road will open which makes you think they are hard at work like on Tioga. As it turns ou...

Re: Most worthless thing in all of fly fishing

For the last couple of years I have been using Korkers but with a very different tread pattern on the bottom made by Vibram and they have worked great for me. I also use the felt bottom on them depending on where I am fishing.

Re: Miss Nona

What great way to remember her. She sounds like she was a fascinating lady on many levels. Looking forward to some pics of fish in that net!

Colorblind test

If you are colorblind you probably already know it. What you may not know is that there is a company that makes glasses and sunglasses that will correct it in about 75% of people. Their website ( http://enchroma.com/ ) can answer a lot more of your questions than I can here, so if you or someone you...

Re: SIMMS Freestone or Redington Sonic Pro

I had a different experience with Simms repair service-very negative. I'll never buy their waders again. I switched to Redington and love them. The zipper is a nice addition too. Just my .02

Re: Dump alert

Yes, you are right. That's what I looked at too, but I was looking at the flow for below Big Pine Creek (currently 310) not the PV outflow which is at 168 right now. Given the amount of rain and snow of the last couple of weeks though I would keep a close eye on that to see if they jack it up. Good ...

Re: Dump alert

I like to check the Cal Trans camera at hwy 395 & 203 to see just what is going on up there. http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist9/cctv/ That's a good one, there's also a Crowley one and if you go to mammothmountain.com and click on webcams they have five that you can get control of - I like the one in t...

Dump alert

Some years ago I signed up for 'dump alerts' at mammothmountain.com to get an email whenever a certain level of snow was reached from a storm. This year they just keep on coming and coming and coming. It is now officially the snowiest January on record and they still have to finish this storm and co...

Re: Heritage Trout Challenge

Thanks, Jim. Since I dragged my feet on logging mine that I finished this summer I guess I will have to read through all of this to see if anything changed. Well, I guess that's what rainy days are for!
