Re: Seasons on the fly

I think I am alone in the world, but Seasons (all though I do watch it) kinda drives me nuts... I guess Greg gets a bit 'too poetic' for my tastes ;) Its one of those shows that usually takes me about 2 days to finish. Maybe because in my fast paced life, with 2 babies, slow TV shows don't get prior...

Re: Badfisher...Thoughts ???

I rented a paddle board this last summer... NOT FOR ME, I'd be splashing all over the place scaring every fish for miles trying to get back on that thing.

Re: Strong and Fast Knots?

I don't know if anyone listens to Tom Rosenbauer's podcast for Orvis, but a few months ago he talked about a strength testing machine Orvis had acquired for their rod department and he said he spent a day in there testing the strength of different knots. He found that that the improved cinch knot ac...

Re: Adjustable Thingamabobber

I've been using something similar, however I simply use orthodontic rubber bands for my stoppers. With this system you have the indicator on the line, threaded onto the leader, same as the video. If you like using yarn you can do this as well, Thats what I have done, and like it. A guide at the Tro...

Re: Catch and Release Techniques / Do's and Don'ts

I like that idea, I think I will just whack em with my net. Someone said that Greg's nets come in handy... then I'll throw em back!

Re: Catch and Release Techniques / Do's and Don'ts

So wait... your telling me I shouldn't be using a dry terry cloth towel to hold the fish and my leather man to dig the hook out of its gullet? My process has always been to flop the fish on the ground, cover it in dirt, that way its not so slimy, then I grab it with a shop towel, and squeeze it as h...

Re: Where is the threshold of pain?

I had also read that Sage is upping their prices by 7% October 1. So that threshold may be going up again. At the present, I am satisfied with my entry/mid level rod. I cast a Sage in February when I caught that fish in my Avatar, and to be honest, casting wise I wanted to go back to my own rod, per...

Re: sinking leaders

I used one for a few years, gets the job done. After a while gets kinda cumbersome to install but it does the job.

I bought mine at Brocks in Bishop, and Brock told me it was the "Poor Mans" sink tip fishing line... ;)

Re: Water Temperatures and Trout

I don't fish the streams that I know get warmer in the summer, but I also don't carry a thermometer around when I do fish. What are the temps on some of the so cal locals? I was at mill creek on Tuesday at the Thurman Flats picnic area with the fam. and there were TONS of people swimming, but I woul...
