Hanford?

Postby WadeK » March 21st, 2013, 9:53 am

On Saturday, I'll be taking my daughter to the Fairgrounds in Hanford for a Rabbit show. Is there any place to fish legally nearby, say within 1/2 hour? PM's appreciated.

Tight Lines,
Wade
I fish for my sanity. If I catch it, should I still practice catch and release?

Not much around there except for the Lower Kings. No trout that far down, but there are bass in the river. I believe the closest trout fishing is over an hour east of Hanford. IIRC, Scott, aka "Troutinator", lives down that way. He may have some info for you.

Thanks for the heads up referring me to Scott. I wasn't able to get ahold of him but that's ok. Do you know where to go on the Lower Kings? I could have some fun with a bass or 2. :bananadance:

I'm sorry, I don't know that part of the river very well. Most guys I know that fish for bass down there, use boats. Also, the river splits up into different channels down there, and most will be dry for part of the year. The main channel will have water. If you look on a map, there is an access/boat launch/beach just north of Hanford in Layton. That is the main channel. Follow the blue line and remember, not all of them stay blue all year long. Should be carp down that way too.
