It's kinda funny how we call plump, obese fish "amazing, awesome, and healthy", but plump, obese people are called less complementary names. That thing is a beast.

The behemoth, caught in a canal near a salmon farm, weighed 42 pounds, 1 ounce. It’s the heaviest brown trout ever caught in New Zealand and could land Kandolf in the book of world records.

Gotta wonder if that ditch by the salmon farm was a discharge outlet. A fish that big and obese had a readily available, high protein food source.

Feeding on pellets from the fish farm. Won't taste very good then. ;)

I used to catch some brown trout in small cow pasture streams in the driftless areas of southern WI and was amazed at how much thicker and deeper they were per length than anywhere else I've caught them. Slow moving steams with nice undercuts and all they had to do was slide out and eat a creek chub whenever they wanted to fill their gut. No real work involved. They fought lazy too. Tried to stay in their undcut, then down and dirty much like a carp fight.
