Besides saltwater, I don't really clean the lines. Maybe 20 years ago I did a few times and I know it makes the line last longer and casts better but I just fish it until the line cracks and then I buy a new line.

I clean my lines after every fishing trip. I admit I can be a bit neurotic when it comes to taking care of my things. I figured since I paid good money for my lines I want them to last as long a possible. Living on a social workers salary I can't really afford to neglect my line or gear. I use Loon Line Speed and recently picked up the Rio Agent X. Both seem to do a good job at keeping my line well conditioned and clean. What really made cleaning my line a pleasure was a product I received as a Christmas present last year. The "Reel E Good Spin and fly Winder" is not the best line winder product but does the job well enough for me.
