Winter weather outlook

Postby Gila Trout » December 15th, 2013, 11:11 pm

Looks like it could be another dry winter. The long range forecast for California shows above normal tempetures and below average rainfall. It it very difficult to predict weather beyond 2-3 days but we are off to a poor start. Most areas have below an inch of rain so far this season. I really hope the weather pattern changes and we get some rain and snow. The Sierras were in poor shape water wise in October and another bad winter will put the state in a dire situation for water come summer and fall.

From a locals standpoint, we have had a couple of good events, but still need a lot of activity just to make up for last season. One or two "inside sliders" would be nice.

Thanks for that link. It gives one hope. Hope we don't have to rely on a "Miracle March", but I'll take anything remotely close to normal snowpack/rainfall.

Getting righteous snow at 5900' right now. About 3" accumulation so far.

Think I'll go fishing this weekend while there's still some wet stuff in the rivers. :oo:

This sucks, I've been watching the weather back home and I don't like it. Meanwhile I'm down here in New Zealand in the middle of summer which feels a lot like Bakersfield winter most days minus the fog. I've seen more rain in 3 weeks here so far than most of you probably have all winter.

Was really hoping this year would put some snow and water back into our mountains....... There is still hope.
