Gloves??

Postby Rockstar Fisherman » October 6th, 2009, 10:09 pm

Ok, so it's become apparant real quick that the bone chilling weather has arrived, and I've got 2 float tubing trips planned for later on this month in higher elevations, and even cold weather fishing this coming weekend.

So what are some good gloves that are water proof for fly fishing?? One way to ruin a fishing day for me is having cold hands when I'm on the water. I need more than just wam packs in my pockets, all those do is make it easier to use the restroom in really cold weather  j/k.

Thanks, Mike

Glacier gloves have worked ok for me. They are neopreme with fold back fingers. Most of the time I brave the elements, but there are times when they come in handy.

Mike

Go to harbor freight and buy the blue surgical gloves for like $10.00

They work very well. Can be worn underneath glacier gloves as well.

That's pretty much how I deal with the cold... Harbor Freight rubbers under wool Kenai gloves.

Thanks guys, I had heard something about surgical gloves but couldn't put 1 and 1 together, now it makes sense. Most of the time I'll brave the elements but when I'm in a float tube with sinking lines it's a definate that my fingers will get wet and cold.

I have used fleece gloves for cold weather. Mostly Glacier Gloves, but recently picked up a pair of Simms Windstopper Fleece. Great gloves. When they get wet, you can just wring them out, and they still keep your hands warm. I hear wool gloves will do the same thing. When it's really cold, I put those little heat packets inside the glove. Toasty! :)

You gotta love winter............or not.
