Top 5 destinations..........

.........before you croak. It's a little slow on the forum(and others), so I hope this sparks some replies.

Let's say money isn't an object. Where would you want to fish before you meet your maker. I said list 5, but list as many as you want.

1. Many rivers in Alaska--there are far more than five I'd like to fish still and hopefully I'll hit 5-6 more next summer. Rivers like the Aniak, Eek, Holitna, Kisaralik, Kanektok, and Kwathluk. I hope to do a 100 mile float on one of those late next August..........

4. New Zealand

5. Anywhere I can get away to while backpacking with my daughters--generally in Idaho somewhere in the Sawtooth Wilderness Area. This I usually do every summer.

In no particular order.

1. Keys/Florida for giant tarpon.

2. Live-aboard off the coast of Chile, exploring coastal rivers.

3. Montauk. Blitzes from the beach & boat.

4. Skeena drainage for giant, wild steelhead.

5. Live-aboard, Christmas Island for multi species

Honorable mention. Kamchatka, New Zealand, Canada pike, DIY Alaska wilderness float, Southern Mexico baby tarpon, Amazon peacock bass, and an unnamed bluegill pond.

I'll second everbody's list!!! If I had an unlimited supply of cash I would fish everyday in every stream I could find. And Eric would go with me!

1. Russia - Kamchatka or Kola Pennunsila
2. New Zeland
3. Patagonia
4. Sweden
5. Slovenia


But the best place was and still are The Sierras, I miss all mine lakes in big elevation. And also missing my friends I was use to fish with.

I've got a few destinations left on my Bucket List. Before I can't, I'd love to fish

1. Montauk in the Fall for stripers and bluefish

2. West Yellowstone for rainbows, browns and cutts

3. Baja for dorado, roosterfish and skipjack

4. California Delta for stripers

5. Alaska for big rainbows and salmon

Honorable mentions (some of which I've done already but can't wait to do again): Bob Marshall Wilderness, Wind River Range, Italy, Au Sable River, High Sierra, Alaska, Green River

5. New Zealand (I've heard all the intimate details from Shane, and I want some too!)
4. Patagonia (I'm envisioning taking off across the Andes with the Guru and Shane-forget $750/day guides; we are gonna rent us some donkeys and do it ourselves!)
3. Kashmir (got close in India last year, but from what I hear the Srinigar area is waaayyy better. Totally unstable, yes, but the stories I hear about mahseer keep me up at night.)
2. Kamchatka (I've read too many articles about catching 25"+ rainbows on mice)

1. Billfish on a fly somewhere. South Pacific? Mexico? I've seen videos of people drawing sailfish up to the boat with traditional rigs then tossing a fly in front of them and hooking into 100 lb + monsters. I think it's doable, and maybe I'd try to add something impossible to the mix, like doing it from a kayak. Tangling with big fish on a yak is fun. Tuna on the fly sounds amazing too, and maybe a little more likely...

SALTWATER :

Papa New Guinea: for Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo and other Nasties...

Costa Rica, Pacific side : For a Insane Sailfish trip...

Venice, Louisiana : go out to the Drilling rigs to get my Butt kicked by Yellowfin Tuna...

Queen Charlotte Islands, B.C. : Saltwater Salmon action, with a Mix of rockfish, Lingcod and Greenling thrown in for variety...

Seychelles : for flats and Bluewater adventures...


FRESHWATER :

Ungava Bay : Giant Arctic Char.. and some big Brookies....

Iceland : Atlantic Salmon, Arctic Char and the lakes for those Plankton eating Char...

Mongolia : Taimen, Lannock....

Western States : isolated headwaters to catch all the Subspecies of Cutthroats i have not caught yet.. throw in Various races of native Redbands for good measure...

Nipigon region of Ontario/Quebec : Giant Brook Trout in the rivers on Streamers fished on 7 wts.....


There's more locations I'm seriously game for.. but these remain tops (this, however, can and probably will Change as time marches on.... )
