No doubt about it , one doesn't need that much reel unless it's Big Game/Saltwater , then you better have it or the Tuna's and such will tear cheap stuff up. In freshwater fishing , the reel is to hold the line ; a great drag doesn't do you a lot of good. But like an expensive sports car , it just is a joy to have. A bottom of the line Toyota will get you where your going just as well. , but that Jag or Vette just seems like the way to go. Pure ego , honest. I have a real appreciation in fine sporting goods , and Hardy get's it done.

Castaway , Try going over to www.classicflyfisherman.com ,then reels , then new and misc. title , and go down the page to #70 , a 40's Hardy Perfect in 2 7/8" size , should be about right for your rod. If that one gives your sticker shock , try #181 , a Hardy Featherweight also in 2 7/8" , both in excellent shape. If it's still available , they had a Green colored Lee Wolfe Hardy Bougle in mint condition. They only made 2 or 3 hundred of those; a collector for sure. I passed it up about 3 weeks ago , I just had to get the Angel2. The reel is #217 on the near bottom of the list at $618.
