Albright XX Fly Rod Question

Postby anacrime » February 15th, 2010, 7:11 pm

I just picked up an XX 10wt and and a GPX 9/10 reel from the Albright sale. I accidentally got the rod with handle B.

Anyone have any experience with this kinda fighting grip set up? Was thinking about exchanging it. Haven't had a chance to cast it yet though.

I have not used that type of fore grip, but I do put my hand up there to fight/steer some bigger fish. If I were buying a 12wt and up rod, I'd probably buy that style grip. Probably not a 10wt though. BTW, just fished my Albright XX 9wt for 2 days this past weekend. Hundreds of casts. It handles 30' of T14 like it was nuttin'. This rod is a beast. :) I can't say the same for my body.

If you have any aspirations of fishing in Baja , or offshore , keep it. More rods (except car doors) have been broken when the guy grabs the rod in front of the grip when a tuna or skippy pulls mean. That rod is built for it with extra stuff in the blank.
