Critique My site also

Postby Ming Moua » March 4th, 2010, 11:28 pm

A few months after I put up my website, I had the same question Pete had on his site. I was thinking about a website critique from fly fishers or anyone. I did add more things to it. So if any one can give me or the site ideas, please feel free to do so........ :bananadance: Thanks, Ming

Ming-Logged on briefly and it really looks very nice and easy for my old eyes to read. I love your photography and it's unique style and way of looking at things. The Eastern Sierra pic is simply outstanding. I'll go through it when I get back from the Kern on Sunday. You sure catch some big fish!

Ming,

Excellent site.

More videos of you casting. Your casting is poetry in motion. As you get more clips of you casting, delete the ones with the other guys casting. Sell Ming the instructor. I am referring to the videos you have scrolling across the bottom of your videos.

I really like the white lettering on the dark background. Breaks from traditional sites but, is easy on the eyes.

More pictures. You take spectacular pictures. Use them to your advantage.

Your site is very easy to navigate and is also very educational.

Get some shots of the Mama Ming in there. Show the potential women customers that women can sling a switch or spey with ease.

Listen to me...all this advice coming from a guy who has basically butchered a web site with crummy pictures and too much text . One of these days if I ever hang on to a custom build long enough, I am coming over for you to take some pics. Especially the Bamboo builds. Bamboo deserves better pictures than I take.

Really like the Renaissance Rods link on your links page ;). How do you attach the links with the picture?

Ming

As Pete said more pictures would be great.

On the Fly Casting Terms would be a great place for you to add some more pictures

FLY CASTING TERMS
Move pictures to the top or bottom
Sentences

Make them 1, 2, 3 or 4 lines NOT bunched up how you havehem all on the left side of the page.
maybe even take a pictures of all the term as well.

What I am talking about is this
Your sentence
Left Bank,
Right Bank:
Reference to
which bank
your casting
from looking
downstream.
All scruched up on the left side of the page, spread it out a little and add pictures to show what you are talking about.

What I am talking about:
HAVE A PICTURE HERE
Left Bank, Right Bank: Reference to which bank your casting from looking downstream.

Pete,
Give yourself more credit than that. Web building and marketing are very unique skills. And everyone has an opinion. As a thought, I bet there's a seriously savvy web designer amongst us that would trade out some design time in barter for a rod.

And Ming, good job. I've always loved your style and the site shows it well.

Looks good to me Ming. More pics, and videos would hold my short attention span better.....and as always, pics of April Vokey on any website is a big plus. :bananadance: ;)

By the way, I went out with the switch one time after you helped me. Boy, do I need to practice more.

I was playing around trying to do a Snap D or some crap that ryan showed me that Ming had showed him. Got pegged with a clouser minnow in the head on the first try. I didn't try again.
Fishing is the most wonderful thing I do in my life, barring some equally delightful unmentionables.

   I can see how that happens. BTW, it's called a Snap T. It's a great cast when Ming does it, but my Snap T has no resemblance to what the creator of the cast had in mind. Here's a Snap T. At 3:16 she catches the line in her teeth.

Ming,

Very nice site. I'm sure it will change and improve as it evolves.
The photos are outstanding.
