Yeah once....when to make me feel better you took the fly off and just nymphed with a bb shot. Even then, you still caught fish!

At this point, I had a story to share about an Old Bull and A Young Bull.....but I forgot it.

Fishinsteve-getting back to your question....I don't have that kind of competitive spirit driving me. I fish with a lot of younger folks and a few ones my age (Tom Sakai-Eric). I enjoy being with both and have learned an incredible amount from all of them. I didn't start fly fishing until I was almost 60 and I'm 64 now. I am perfectly happy to spend a day on the water with friends fishing. If they're catching more then me, I celebrate their success and keep trying. On the rare occasion that I out fish them (only happened once or twice) I try not to be obvious in my gloating. Like Blu said, if you can get to the point where you forget how many fish you've caught that day....well that's a good day. As far as the budget thing....you can really do a lot of fly fishing and not spend an arm and a leg. Especially, if you tie your own flies.

Thats it, thats all you have for that whippersnapper. I was kinda hopeing one of you regulars would bust his balls :) . I haven't been here long enough. I know the story about the old bull and the young bull I have used it myself. Hey I'm getting to the point where I am not as competitve myself. But I'm only 46. Hear that whippersnapper only 46 :) Tying flies no way. :!: Well maybe :? ok maybe just a few chironomids. Damit its starting

Clearly, the benefit of being an older fisherman, is you are allowed to take a midday nap. It really doesn't get any better than that. :bananadance: You young guys would never live that down.
