Ha... that's cool Dave!

From left to right ~ Rick ~ Eric ~ Robert ~ Me (Benny) ~ and Nick. Definitely a cool evening, I wish there were more of these events where "merry mischief makers" can get together.

What's wrong with a mountain dew commercial? EXTREME!!!

Robby, great film, I thoroughly enjoyed your work. Hope to see you around the board. We may not be battling sharks* but we are all fanatics in our own ways.

* I just realized some of us do hunt leopard sharks. Just not makos!

I just wanted to drop in and say hello. My name is Robby King and I'm the "mostly" one man band behind the film Speed, Muscle and Teeth that is a documentary of sorts about Conway. I did a google search to see what people were saying about the film and ended up on this board - I'm a fly fishing film tour nut and love how inspirational the tour can be to promote the sport we all love.

Take care everyone and I'll be on this board now that I know it exists...sorry to be so late to the game!

Glad you stopped by Robby. Your piece with Conway was great! The Tour is really becoming a really cool social event in addition to the movie. Hope you continue to visit us!

Thanks for the support guys! We're getting some great feedback from people all over the country so far and it's awesome to see.

I'm really trying to take my time on this to out Conway in the best light possible as well as trying to get his conservation message out there without pointing my fingers in anyone's face.

I live in Westwood, near UCLA, and usually drive up to the Kern to get my trout fix in. I totally SUCK from the surf but would like to give it some more tries soon. Although, I'll be pretty booked solid sitting in a kayak, surrounded by chum (and sharks), and thinking to myself, "I'm smarter than this!!!" Conway and I will probably be filming until the DVD releases on July 4th.

If any of you are on facebook come check out my production company (LDR Media). We're releasing Speed, Muscle and Teeth this July and another AMAZING project called The Kodiak Project where we filmed Conway, Kirk Deeter (Field and Stream), and Chris Santella (50 places to fly fish before you die) in Kodiak Island, Alaska where they would catch double digit steelhead numbers BEFORE noon. We'll be releasing that project early 2012.

My goals are to show fly fishing in a way that everyone can appreciate - we all fly fish for similar reasons and it's nice to see something you can relate to.

I'm not trying to pump my projects in here - I'm seriously just trying to practice what I preach and meet the different segments of the sport so I can try and speak intelligently on what each group likes and dislikes. Seems like Southern California is pretty fractured in its groups - a lot of surf guys, a lot of salt guys, and some trout guys. But its also nice to see that a lot of you on here are triple threaters and just like to have fun.

That's what it's all about!

I'm looking for a local club I can call home - any ideas? I work 14-16 hour days usually but would love to talk shop on the rare times I have free.

You haven't heard the last of me....

Robby,
Welcome to the forum. The movies on Saturday were a blast. Fishing for makos with a fly rod looks like a blast.

If you are looking for a club locally, you can't beat the Long Beach Casting Club. If you want to hang with a bunch of guys who love fly fishing than you found the right place.

Howdy Fellows

Brad Bohen here - aka AftonAngler...

I'm one of the musky guys in the Fly Fishing Film Tour. I'm glad to hear you all had a fun time at the F3T! We did drive out from Wisconsin to attend a few of the shows on the West Coast. Long Beach and Ventura were FUN! Best part was meeting a bunch of passionate fly anglers in a different part of the world.

Brian Porter and I and the musky dog Penny the Setter got to hang out for a day at Fisherman's Spot. We tied musky flies and met a few fly fishing crazies from So Cal. Tim Dalton aka 007/James Bond came by and is a very into fly fishing. That was cool meeting him.

Robby King is an EXCELLENT film maker! What a pleasure to meet him as well! Thanks for taking the time to find us Rob...and please, please, please bring your hide and camera up to Musky Country sometime and lets see what we can do!!

The three of us got to do some surf fishing down there as well. Man is that fun...so different than anything I have ever experienced. Being in the surf and fishing the Ocean with a fly rod is HEAVEN on Earth in February for us Wisco hicks. You folks are fortunate to have those fishing options this time of the season...back home it has been -30F and snow up to the butt crack!

YIKES!

I'll extend an invite to Musky Country to you all. If you are interested in traveling to Wisconsin to sample the world class Warm Water fishery we have up that way for musky, pike, smallmouth bass and other assorted predators we can help you plan your trip. It's an easy place to get to, the fishing is fairly cheap compared to other destinations and Upper Wisco will blow you away with its great beauty!

We will be back for sure to Southern Cali! Conway offered us up an invite to fish makos...those surf perch are great fun and oh yes...LEOS on a fly as well...got to see one or two leopards and they are for sure on my bucket list now!

Here is to getting BENT DEEP in 2011!

All the Best

Your Pal

Hey Brad good to see you on here. If you post up some more of those Musky pics I'm sure some folks here will get all jacked up to go catch one! Maybe they'll even come out for one of your schools this year.

Brad,

No doubt about it - it was awesome meeting you guys and I will definitely bring my gear up to you guys one day in the future. My wife's family lives in Chicago and I'm sure I could sneak away for a couple of days on a trip further North.

If you're ever in the area again you certainly have a place to crash just hit my up through my business card or find me somehow...even if you show up on the front door one night you're more than welcome! Finding good people who are passionate about the sport and live to do it are why I follow them around with a camera. Awesome stuff.

Take care and stay warm!
