I have no problem with hunting or fishing private land. Especially with hunting. Some game, like pigs and Turkeys, are very hard to find on public land. I do like the "feel" of fishing a stretch of water knowing that I don't have to hurry to get to my favorite spot before someone beats me to it. Bob

I'm not opposed to paying to fish private land. I've done it once at the Donner Ranch on Hat Creek. We fished the morning session, and our group of 5 had both ponds to ourselves. It was a great experience, and I caught the two biggest trout of my life. It was a lot of fun, and not something that I could have done (as easily) fishing public water. I'm okay with paying if it's not an exorbitant fee and the fishing is a fun and unique opportunity.

I have yet to pay for the privilege of fishing a stream or creek, there are just too many public places to fish with NO CROWDS, if you have the wheels and know the spots, and are willing to do a little hoofing.

Now as far as warm water fishing goes, I have paid to fish a VERY local establishment and the opportunity to be invited to fish private hunting/fishing club ponds. I have caught my biggest bass, gills and crappie in these ponds! And in addition, had the entire place to myself/ourselves for an entire day!
There is just something absolutely crazy about being out on some great fishing waters in the backyard of some 14 million people, and having it all to yourself!

As I transition into retirement, my plans are to shop around and join a fishing/hunting club with some great water, and haggle for a "fishing only deal"

I gladly pay for access every year. I have fished some awesome water throughout the Rockies. Everyone should try Depuy's Spring Creek in Paradise Valley off the Yellowstone which is world famous and a place to test your skills.
Here on the Guadalupe in central Texas we have had a successful Lease Access Program for over 20 years. In Texas almost all the land is in private hands. Access to the Guadalupe is though and across private land. Guadalupe River Trout Umlimited has sponsered the Lease Access Program for it's members in which they lease access from local land owners. The cost is about $105/year. That gives members access across 17 properties, most of which would be off-limits in the winter trout season. With the funds from an average of 650 anglers that participate per year of our chapter's 5000+ members we collect over $65,000 which we use to acquire the leases and then stock some $50,000 worth of Rainbows. We stock about 3 times as many pounds of Trout in the river as Texas Parks and Wildlife. And because we have this program other funds donated to GRTU can fund some of our other unique programs like: Coldwater Outreach Conservation Fund in which we donate funds to other TU chapters for their own conservation and restoration programs. So far we have sponsered 6 projects for other TU chapters, https://www.grtu.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=22 .
Of course that is just one of our programs but one of which we are most proud as it is unique amoung all TU chapters.
That being said when I am flyfishing the Rockies I usually fish in National Forests and Wilderness (no fees for public lands) and sometimes National Parks (W/entrance fees)
