FFF Fly Fishing Faire in Mammoth

Postby WanderingBlues » June 29th, 2012, 6:10 am

Hey folks, the Southwest Council of FFF is throwing a shindig up in Mammoth on Sept 13-16. Looks like a great mix of pay to play classes and free seminars. They'll also have vendors and trade booths. Not that you need an excuse to roll up, but here's a good time to support FFF and the flyfishing community.

Curtis,

A few of us “Addicts” are already planning on attending this event. We will be camping at Sherwin Creek Campground, which is about 10 minutes from town. And if you want to brush-up on your casting, I’m teaching a few clinics. :) It should be a fun event and the money goes towards a great cause.

Sign-up for the classes start Sunday July 1st at 6 am. Space is limited so if you are interested in taking a workshop sign-up early. A few local guides are donating their time doing these on the water workshops. It is a great way to learn new skills.

This is going to be one cool shindig. I will have my Sierra Nets booth set up along with 9 other vendors. There is a ton of stuff going on: Clinics on/off the water:
■Where the Big Fish Live Techniques for Success
■10 Mammoth area Hot Spots
■Fly Casting 101
■Fly Tying- Basics and Beyond
■What Fish Eat
■There's a Big Ocean out There- Saltwater Fly Fishing
■Travel With Your Flyrod
■Why 10% of Anglers catch 90% of the Fish
■Building a Lifetime of Memories

Other workshops and events like:
■Digital photography
■Rod Building
■The History of the Sierra
■Eastern Sierra Geology
■Artists and Where to Find Them

The buzz is that it may attract more peeps than first thought-Interest is good. Duckdog, there will be plenty of water for all. Just don't take the easy rd. and fish HC! ;)

There are so many waters to fish, and who would you rather share it with anyways? (besides Fly Fishers)

See you there!

And given Mammoth's economic issues, the town would appreciate the extra tourism $$.

Don't you remember how much fun you had fishing with a few of your close friends back in your bait fishing days?

I can't help it , it's what I do, and I do do it well. I had planed on going up the second or third week of Sept. on a fish / mtn. quail trip. May have to adjust to check this out, depends on Crowley.

I'll be up there the week of Sept 17th with my father-in-law and cronies. We will be on Crowley if you want to meet up.

Hopefully it's warmer and less windy than the last time we met on Crowley... Man, that was cold.
