The Big FIVE-OH...

Postby WanderingBlues » December 10th, 2015, 11:47 am

Well, hot dawg, I'm turning 50 on January 24th, which also marks the official day I can retire. So, Tami & I can think of no finer way to celebrate than to turn it into an FFA gathering.

We'll be at PVR, just north of Bishop, for the weekend of January 22-24th. It's a great time to fish the Upper and Lower O, HC, and the big crack in the ground. You can put to use all the nifty gear you got for Christmas!

If we get enough folks, we can coordinate a big potluck for Saturday night and I'd be more than happy to bring up some tuna for the grill. Hopefully, we'll see some old friends, and make some new ones.

No RSVP though it'll help as to how much fish I'll bring, and no gifts other than your presence. PVR is $14 a night. We'll probably take over that area up canyon, close to the dam. They have made improvements, including new bathrooms....

Youngsters....all of you. I think an Addicts get together would be just what the doctor ordered. For those who have not been to one....Camping next to the Big Reedy and fishing before breakfast is a real treat. Count me in. I've perfected two Dutch oven dinner menus and make a mean fire station breakfast. Fishing should be great.

Count me in.

Since I can't fish until probably March or April I guess I could go and ahh, stay in camp and protect the beer while you guys are out fishing. :D

Say 'yes' and bring some bread! Guys, I'll tell you, James' breads make Schatts look like Wonderbread.

Say yes...bring some bread and make some in the dutch oven! That's the fun of these addict get togethers.

These gatherings/get togethers are lots of fun. I'm hoping I could make it.

Fishing and camping and celebrating seems like a better alternative to household chores and catching suckers on the Kern. Seems like there will be folks willing to trade shuttle time for some drift boat time (just have to find the map of put in and take out points.

Reservoir Question. The Bishop Chamber of Commerce website says the reservoir is only open to float tubes. Is that still current? I prefer canoes and kayaks over float tubes, so if that is the current rules, the speedy alternatives stay home.

Should be a fun time. I plan on arriving on Thursday unless the whether is nasty.

How many of you would want Jon to protect the beer
I guess if it was like bud or miller or coors it would be safe.

Sorry Jon I had to say it.

Sounds like the makings of a good get together, and sure wish you a HBD for the big 5-0.

I also agree with JonS. Whomever selects PapaS as a beer guard better have extra locked in their car trunks.
