Hello Everyone!

Postby OutThereAngeler » March 7th, 2012, 1:18 pm

Hi everyone, My name is Ian and I ran across this forum first by googling SoCal fly fishing, and then through thesocalflyfisher.blogspot. I have recently moved to the SoCal area (inland empire) and was looking for a community area where I can learn from others about fly fishing. I grew up in central California, and since the age of 9 (now 24) have been fishing the eastern sierras and everywhere else I could. I am just discovering the many creeks in the area and am looking forward to learning from, and possibly fish with many of you. Thanks to the creators for this forum so many, such as myself, may share knowledge (and maybe bragging rights ;) ) and I look forward to adding my own experiences.

Thanks again,
-Ian

Yes, welcome aboard. There's quite a few "inland empire" experts on this forum.

Just so you know, the owner of that blog is a real enabler, he'll turn you into an addict before you know it, so be careful! :D

Welcome Ian. Happy to have you on board here. Looking forward to your posts.

Where about in Central California, BTW? I lived on the central coast (Lompoc) for about 15 years and now Fresno (since 1990).
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Wow,
Central coast... Why move to So. Cal. 4 hrs drive from the Central Coast north will put you on much better water than here! There is no fish in the desert

Welcome aboard bud!

Darin, I am from Modesto. I was born and raised there. Spent my college days in Napa valley, and wanted a change of scenery and decided to look into career opportunities down here. Working supplies the habit/addiction to fishing. My first time fly fishing was on Hot Creek with that canyon wind blowing through. After untangling many times I finally caught a 8incher and have never looked back.

Artin, I moved down here because there were no jobs in my home town, and I didn't want to be in my town with nothing to do. I always like fishing new waters, and the eastern sierras are not that far away. It was nice being no more then 4 hours to anything.
