"Newbie Box" Drawing for Spring 2̶0̶1̶3̶ 2014

For topics that don't seem to have a home elsewhere.

Re: "Newbie Box" Drawing for Spring 2013

If anyone has an idea of who could benefit from this box please let us all know. Spring is still a few months away but it will be here before we know it.

I want to apologize for my lack of participation on the forum. I've been battling a pretty serious depression and have not been feeling like doing much. I've been hiking a bit to get my mind clear, it seem to help most of the time. I have also been going to group therapy to try and rid myself of this feeling as well as seeing a therapist. I hate to air my dirty laundry here, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still committed to get this fly box sent out to someone in need.

Your forum buddy,
Benny

Benny, no reason to apologize, life can be very difficult at times. We could all benefit from from counseling. I am glad you are feeling better. There is so much depressing news thrown at us on a daily basis, at times it takes a allot of work and engery to stay positive.

Benny-
It happens. I've lived with the specter of depression for over 30 years. It's not easy to deal with. Some of the most incredible accomplishments I achieved were fueled by the highs and some of the most miserable times of my life where hampered by the lows. I never missed a day of work but there were times when I was a couch potato on my days off for a month or so. I also can tell you that I have never felt depressed while fly fishing. Disgusted with my ability to catch willows and sycamore trees or miss takes but never depressed. My prescription would be to give one of us a jingle and go fishing. They're waiting to put a smile on your face.

Shall we put a target date on the Newbie Box so it has a finite end? I've got some new flies I've been tying and can't wait to hone my skills on them. Can't wait to see who ends up with it!

Benny,
You take care of you and the box will take care of itself. We definitely care more about you than the box. Like Jim said go fishing and take some Benny time on the water.

Everything is good on my end guys. I have flies from "flyaddict" Mark and "midger" Mike. I have just been busy with work for the most part. The psychotropic drugs along with some group therapy along with some reading has really done me some good. I'm actually feeling really great.

If anyone needs an address just send me a pm and I will shoot over my address asap. Thanks for bumping this thread up Tim.

You're daughter is a looker, but I've seen how she handles a gun, not sure if I want her to find me! :)

Benny, I just saw this post, I've been so absent from the board lately, life has been busy. If you still need some flies, I have a little time to throw a few together, don't count me in for many. Do you need copper johns? I think you have my email, go ahead and let me know buddy!

Just a friendly bump to try and get a few more flies in for this fly box giveaway. If you guys have an idea of someone that can use this fly box let us know on this thread or send me a PM. If in the case there is more than one person I could always create a raffle of sorts and do it that way. Thanks for helping out with this fly box giveaway everyone.

No concerns on the box. Heck, I don't even know any of our addicts who are short flies unless someone has lost theirs or had one stolen. Maybe canvas the folks here for what to do with it? Donate it to Casting for Recovery or Project Healing Waters? If the forum folks decided they wanted to go that way, I would cough up a couple more new boxes with flies. Suggestions?
