Members' Bio: Where'd you come from?

I have a lot of rods because I have the sickness!

I learned that a 9' 5wt is overkill for small creeks surrounded by lots of twigs and branches - even with rollcasts - caught more trees than fish. That's when I started going to smaller stream rods. Isn't the saying you can never be too rich, too thin or have enough fly fishing equipment?

Welcome to the board, Ava. There are lots of folks to fish with around here. If you ever want to fish the surf, with your fly rod, let me know.

Hi Bill,

What kind of rod is needed to "fish the surf?" It sounds cool.

A 5 wt rod, or bigger, with a sink tip, or sinking line, works best. It's a lot of fun!

Honestly, I couldn't tell you how many I have.. They're like an ocean tide--they come and go, ebb and flow........... Probably just like yours.

Hello Ava, glad you could make it to the party!

Sounds like you are already off to a smashing good start!

By the way, if you are looking for a 4wt, don't know if he sold it yet but Papasequoia has a great deal going on a Sage Z Axis!

Thanks for the welcome and the rod info. I'll check it out.

Every time I look at your profile picture I cringe thinking about how painful it must have been. Yikes! Hope your finger is better now. :)

After reading this forum, I realize that while Orvis reels may be good, there are many others to choose from and hope to learn more from everyone. I don't have tons of money so I can't afford the very best but I won't buy cheap gear just to save a buck. I am saving up for a 4wt rod and am looking forward to the Pasadena show.

Hello

I was looking for a forum for the king's river, and i found this website. :). Sadly, I do not fish the King's as often as I would like to, because I live in the bay area, and tend to travel up north to Chico quite often. I enjoy fishing, but not a big fan of eating fish, unless it is sushi. The feeling of releasing a fish makes me feel great, because you know there will be something around to grab your fly the next time you come out.
I grew up in visalia, ca, moved to fresno after high school, then the bay area afterwards. I started fly fishing in october 2009, and have been learning to get better after each trip :). In addition, I just recently got my two brothers into fly fishing as well, and boy he goes nuts in buying gear. I have big plans for 2010, such as making a trip to the trinity, klamath, smith, owens, kern, and the walker, just hoping things go out as planned. I am currently a sponge, and learn quite fast, so I would like to thank everyone who has helped me so far, in achieving the things I have done recently in fly fishing. I get my fly tying kit today, as soon as ups stops by, and i'm afraid im going to become a fly tying addict. haha.

P.S. If anyone has fished a certain creek near chico, B**te Creek, please PM Me. I'm hoping I can make an outing this weekend if it does not rain. I am itching to get out and feel a bendo. ;/
I fish every weekend, but fishing solo blows.
