That's not a bad price for the 490 and it is actually a really sweet casting dry fly rod but it doesn't have the quite the cult following of the 389 ll. I had a 490-4 ll for about 6 years before I sold it. It was a nice casting rod with a moderate action--very smooth. If the rod is in excellent plus condition, you wouldn't lose any money on it as you could probably resell it to get your money back if it wasn't your cup of tea. I'd only purchase it if you plan on dry fly fishing it--they're not what I'd use for a nymphing rod.

Thats a fair price for a 490...hard to find em less than that.
I have a 389 ll and perfer it over the 490 but its still a fun, soft and slow rod.

That sounds like a great deal. I love that rod and use it most of the time when I'm fishing Hot Creek. I also have the 389, and I like them both a lot and about the same. That and the old Scott G series 4 wt are my favorite 4 wts.

I have one. Great rod never ever trade or sell it. With two tips fair price. One tip would sell for around $250. Throws a very nice tight loops effortlessly. My first choice when hitting the river.

Buy it. Fish it. Take care of it. Pass it down to a child. :)

If you don't want it, let me know how I can buy it. I have several Sage LLs: 279, 389, 4711, 486. I am currently looking for a 379, 490, and 590 to complete my collection that are in good shape and reasonably priced. You might not believe the prices that LLs are bringing on e-bay. $300 is a good deal and I will take it if you don't want it.

My 389 is one of my favorite rods. Get it and fish it. You'll enjoy it.

I'll echo BaughB. My LL is my favorite dry fly rod.

Buy it, you'll never regret it.
