So I got my Valentine’s Day gift a few days early

Postby Sasha » February 11th, 2009, 10:17 pm

So today I was off work today as I always am on Wednesday. My wife also has her heavy class day on Wednesday. I had asked her if on her way to school could she drop off one of my reels at the fly shop because I needed new line. She says sure and grabs the reel and heads off to school. In the mean time I call the shop and tell John that she is coming by and what I needed on the reel. He says no problem Sasha we chit chat a bit about fishing and then we get off the phone.

So fast forward to later in the evening my wife calls me. She says that she is coming home because her last class was canceled because her professor was not feeling well. So she gets home and we chat for a bit, I ask her for the reel. She goes to the garage and comes back with my reel. The she says she has my Valentine’s Day gift for me as well. I told her it was not Valentine’s Day yet. She says don’t worry about it close your eyes. She hands me my gift and I open my eyes. I open my eyes to this:

I've always been kind of anti valentine's day...maybe I should start rethinking that.

Well I tink I will need to go break it in this weekend.

Now where should I go hmmmmmm............

@ super dry fly: Yea we never did the Valentine's Day thing either. Then last year I thought I would be sneaky and get her a little something. Only I ended up being the one surprised as she went big and got me a XD-9 service. I felt like an butt because I had only gotten her flowers. So I was prepared this year or so I thought.

DOOOOOOD!

I have eyeballing those ZG's for a while now, then I got my new catalog, HOLY CARP!

The prices on all the Orvis Rods just went through the roof!

Lucky man you are, I get a Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie box every year!
But then again, have been with the same wonderful girl for 36 years!

oh yeah, nice reel too!

a little off topic, but what are the advantages of an 8.5' 5wt over a 9' 5wt? i don't think i've ever fished one
