Just Breezin Along on Rt 66

Postby WanderingBlues » March 20th, 2016, 3:24 am

Well, we are slowly heading east on Rt 66. I never considered the mother road much in the past, but have found it to be pretty fascinating. A blend of funky, kitschy, tired, and new. We are in ABQ looking around and I'll be fishing tomorrow up on the Chama, hopefully with a report to follow. And for the People fans, they are doing just fine with plenty of walks and the good, warm sunny spot to nap in.

Weather's a little crazy out here. We went from a sweet sunset and 70 degrees to a crazy wind/sand/snow storm in less than 12 hours.

But the hiking is spectacular.

Til next time, PEACE.

Curtis,

Looks like you're adapting well to this retirement gig!

Love the pics...especially the slow-shutter Milky Way! :bananadance:

Safe journey,

Jeff

Wow, those are some spectacular photos. You've got quite the photographers eye. Love the shot with the night sky and stars. Good luck on the water.

Good stuff, Curtis. Are you able to get in any fishing yet? Check out the Baca Ranch which the Forest Service just bought a few years ago. Thousands of acres of untouched land with Elk and trophy fish that folks used to have to pay to access. Near Los Alamos. Great pictures...maybe someday you could do a tutorial on how you get the amazing night shots.

Nice! I spent a lot of time on that road and in those towns. Blakes Lottaburger--forgot about those.

I've always loved old signs and pictures of them. We have quite a few just along the 395 corridor as well. Good stuff.

Same here, I love old neon!

Hit the Chama yesterday and worked it hard for nada. Still, it was a brilliant day with my buddy. He had 4 bows & 2 Browns to hand, all in the 15-17" range. Beautiful place. I'll be back for redemption.

Well, you just confirmed that the article I read was not lying!
They said it is a very tough place to fish, but when you do hook up, it will be a nice one.
But at least you got to fish waters that most will never get to.

Now go catch a GILA Trout!
