Nice list- but your travel budget seems much bigger than mine. For me, a modest kitty for travel expenses and all the time in the world (as long as I am still alive.

Hey - quick inspiration! Can I be your travel agent so I can collect a portion of the fees and maybe work my way into Canada!

Pardon my comments! Enjoy your dreams. I sure as * try to enjoy mine.

Bodfish is a very, very low budget fishing destination that is NOT on anyone's bucket list.......

I have very good friends who live in New Zealand....I just need the plane tickets..

Andros Island is on my list.

Went to Belize for the honeymoon and you're right, flats fishing is pretty sweet. Highly recommend it! Get ready to cast your arm off!

I’d be happy to complete the “Five Stages of a Fly Fisherman.” I’m sure most of you have completed all five, or are working on number 5.

1. Wants to catch a fish on a fly rod.
2. Wants to catch a lot of fish on a fly rod.
3. Wants to catch a big fish on a fly rod.
4. Wants to catch a lot of big fish on a fly rod.
5. Wants to catch the big fish on a fly rod.

Have you fly fished in Hawaii? If not, it’s one of two states where you could possibly catch a Bonefish and Peacock Bass within 20 miles. The other state is Florida. Here are some websites for Oahu, Hawaii:

My bucket list is to fish any stream I can find before I kick the bucket.

Any time when I am on the road, I look ahead of time for likely spots, but I am usually surprised at what pops up as I travel down the road.

The marketing concept of a once in a lifetime fish usually has once in a lifetime expenses associated with the event. The pleasure of cheap fishing is finding some of those large holdover fish. Those fish have made appearances on humble waters like the Kern.

But creeks are where the pleasures of fishing are best.

Best wishes to all and the dreams of fishing.

Same here. As time goes on, I'm finding less time to do "bucket list" type trips, and have to be happy with what I can do until I retire. Not to be a debbie downer, I'll list some stuff I'd like to do when I'm able to.

Sight fishing redfish, and tarpon.

Just about any salty critter that doesn't require being in a rocking boat.

PNW, Canada, and/or Alaska steelhead on a swung fly.

Atlantic Salmon on a swung fly.

Pike/musky.

Eastcoast striper/bluefish/albie blitzes

etc....etc....

The "BUCKET LIST"....

Postby Rasputinj » July 11th, 2016, 10:33 pm

Bucket list completed

1. Vancouver
2. New Zealand North Island
3. NorCal steelhead fishing Klamath with Ants
4. Lake Crowley with Dray
5. Hex Hatch Manistee River MI

What is left?

Fish for trout in Kauai
Spanish Alps
South Island NZ
Lake Kirman
Montana/Idaho

Now except for all the Hogs I caught in NZ, my next largest non Steelhead trout came out of the Kern. Some of my best fishing days have been on small creeks in greater SoCal, not sure there are any water or trout left in those creeks. Like others have said it is good to just get out and wet a line and even better to share it with another enthusiast

I've done a few bucket list areas, but there's always more.

1. High Sierras for trophy goldens (highest priority by far)
2. Iceland
3. Patagonia, both Chile and Argentina sides
4. Alaska (Char and Dolly Varden)
5. Somewhere for Bones, or Tarpon (Cuba, Belize, Aitutaki (Cook Islands), Kiribati, Florida..
6. Klamath Redbands
7. Utah Boulder Mountain
8. New Zealand North Island, despite living there (Christchurch) for a year I never fished a minute on the North Island, it was always work, hiking, sightseeing, beaches or partying.

Some of the places I mentioned above I've been to but didn't have the time and money to fish. Someday when I'm married, that way I can use my hall passes for fishing trips rather than partying trips :bananadance: . Oh and if I had a lot of money this list could be altered, but I choose the budget friendly route.
