My preference is to have maps for searching for areas to fish and hike. The online information is used as a supplement, but when you are on the trail, the online sources are usually absent.
I stopped at one of the USFS Ranger stations and was told about a booklet of maps. I liked and bought it ($24.00).
Sequioa National Forest Atlas including Giant Sequioa National Monument
7 1/2' Quadrangle Topographic Maps
Sixty topo maps in a spiral bound format, 8 1/2 by 11 inches.
The USFS trail and road numbers are included.
A couple of less desirable features are the paper does not appear to be waterproof and the reduction in size from full size topo sheets may encourage reading glasses.
Otherwise, it is handy to have while driving to a site or hiking about.
If you like information that gets you out, you would certainly want to consider this publication.
