Striped Bass in CA

Thanks for the look into the history of striped bass in California. They are a fun fish to catch. I've caught them in Lake Pyramid(the one along I-5 south of Bakersfield), the Calif Aqueduct and Lake Silverwood. Haven't lucked into one in the surf yet and I've always wondered where the ones caught infrequently on SD area beaches come from. Do they migrate down from their Bay Area home or do they have a home somewhere in Southern Calif?

Richard: Quite a few years ago, maybe 20, maybe more, fish and game stocked stripers in San Diego bay if memory serves me. I think they had originally thought there could be a self sustaining population.

I also heard somewhere that the delta smelt is also non native, anyone know about this?

Very cool article, I was wondering about the history of Stripers in NorCal, as I know they are not native to our coast.
