Getting the next generation started

Postby Justin » June 25th, 2009, 10:35 am

Hey All,
Here is a quick report from a few weeks back. A while back someone on another forum was very kind and offered to give my 7yr old daughter a beautiful 3/4wt fly rod he built some time ago. Thanks a lot Larry!! I also wanted to say a big thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Fly Bob!
They were kind enough to work with my daughter and my self to make a sweet custom rod sock! They let her pick out the color and it fits perfect! Super nice rod sock!! Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Fly Bob!!

Now to the report, we started by fishing a local stretch of water not to far from our house.
The water was running clear and we temped it at 64 degrees. Maybe a bit cold but we had time to fish so fish we did. We started out by throwing stimmies after a few minutes she hooked up Image

She landed her first fish of the day.

Not a bad fish for this water.

Another hook up

I was re-tying her fly so she has my TXL in this pic, I don’t know where she gets her impatience 

We both caught several fish and I believe she had a real good time fishing, we stayed out past her bed time but it was a blast.

Here is Katie proudly showing off her rod sock.

Thanks again Larry and Bob!!!

That is awsome!

I need to get my daughter back out on the water. I took her 3 weeks ago to a pond, but I have not taken her to a creek since last year.
