Fiberglass: The next best thing to Bamboo. Just like Bamboo, you have to let the rod do the work or you will hate it. Those guys make it look so easy. Older glass rods are still around. Check out yard sales and swap meets. The older heavier rods make great bass and carp rods. Find one for your *

But, its not just the old fiberglass rods that really flex . Check out the flex on a Steffen Brothers rod http://www.renaissanceflyrods.com/fiberglass.html scroll to the bottom of the page. New technology has really lightened up the blanks. No more only finding only 6 weight and up. The Steffen Brothers, in the pic, is a 3-4 weight. You can bomb line out with them, but they also excel in a delicate presentation.

Now Pete, don't go ballistic on me, but did you see the tip oscillation on the Garcia Conolon. Even a low end plastic rod won't have that kind of recoil.

I have a couple heavy weight glass rods, that I would love to use for bass and striper fishing. Unfortunately, they are painful to cast. Way/weigh too much for my old joints. I think you need to talk Steffen into making heavier rod blanks, and I'll have you build me a sweet 8' 8wt. Deal?
