Beautiful Rain in the Mountains

Postby WanderingBlues » July 31st, 2011, 7:16 am

Got up to rolling thunder about 0530 and wondered if I should go visit the local haunt. A few minutes later, I had my answer. A nice gentle summer rain. Of course, that didn't last long and it really opened up! It's been steady with a few moments of torrential downpour for about an hour and a half now. I figure it's only raining because I need to load the camper for tomorrow's Sierra excursion.... On the bright side, it should break some dams down in the canyon and flush some of the decomposing granite down stream.

Here's the side yard run-off.

We heard the thunder and had a little rain come down on us yesterday while fishing. It sure was a beautiful day yesterday.

I got up early this morning, hooked the boat up and then saw the lightning, backed the boat back in the garage and went back to bed. Lightning, flyrods and boat do not mix for this guy. And it was good yesterday too!

At 1:05pm, it's still raining up here. It has not let up. Pretty awesome. If we avoid lighning strikes, it'll put a damper on fire season for a bit.
