In the movie A River Runs Through it, what knot is tied at the beginning and the end of the movie?

I read an interesting story about the making of the film a while back that mentioned the scene with the old man at the end. He came in response to a casting call in Montana and they almost didn't use him because his hands shook so much. Fortunately, somebody said that makes it all the more realistic and they used that guy. I don't remember for sure, but I think it was a duncan knot he was tying.

It was driving me crazy trying to remember where I read that article I mentioned above. I finally found it - it was linked from Midcurrent and was about the actor who played old Norman Maclean, Arnold Richardson, who passed away at the start of this year. It's a very good article from a newspaper and worth a read. Oh yes, and it was the turle knot, not the duncan.
